B-Bops is a Des Moines tradition and one that is highly regarded by "the locals". As not a local, I have a more objective view. As far as quick service goes, B-Bops is generally one of the best in town.
This location is drive/walk up only. The building and lot are clean and easy to navigate. The menu board looks older, but functions well. The food items themselves are simple and there aren't many choices. Burgers made a few ways and a few sizes, some chicken sandwiches, and a fish sandwich.
The service isn't the fastest, but I can't think of a time they've messed my order up. During our visit all 3 of our sandwiches were special order and all came correctly made. Portion sizes are generous for burgers and fries are full and good sized as well. I rarely get a shake, but they're delicious and good sized for the price.
Most Des Moinesians would say these are the best fast food burgers in town. I disagree, ranking them second. They have a great flavor, well cooked, and made with quality meat and buns. You can tell they use fresh ingredients, most likely sourced from local places, which makes the difference. The burger is great and with most of the meals in the $6-$8 range, it's good priced.
I definitely recommend this to people who don't live in town and people who are in town would get my vote for...
Read moreThe food is freaking delicious. but. This is the second time Iâve gone where I ordered NO ONION and got onion. Iâm quite mad as I am allergic. Tonight, I ordered my meal combo and asked for no onion. I could barely hear the woman that was taking my order. Honestly, itâs like the teacher from Charlie Brown⌠not joking⌠I got my food and went home to find out that my burger that was supposed to have no onion, had onion. But thatâs not all.. I got ONLY ONION. No tomato, pickle, lettuce, or sauces. Come on. Step up your game and get some better communication devices. Thank you. EDIT: I just poured out my cup of WATER and found a black flake at the bottom. I donât have a clue what it could be but I donât want to find out. I just drank half of it. The flake came out as I poured it out. That is disgusting. I really thought you guys used to impress. But not anymore :( I unfortunately donât recommend this location to...
Read moreI'm a huge fan of B- Bop's so this was a surprise. Normally (Altoona or Fleur Drive location) service is extremely fast, courteous and the food is always excellent.
At this location (in the Sam's parking lot in Windsor Heights) we pulled in line, ordered, and waited no less than 25 minutes to get one hamburger (plain with extra cheese) fry, and a large Diet Pepsi. When we pulled in there was one car at the window and one waiting to order. So.. if we could have backed out and left, we woud have, but our exit route was blocked and we weren't in a huge hurry. The person at the window was very pleasant and the food was up to b-bop's standards.... the wait time was simply ridiculous. I understand that there are a million things that can go wrong at any given time of day that can cause delays and maybe that was the case today - which is unfortunate, because today, I feel like reviewing and they did...
