From the moment we entered the restaurant, the staff at Grata made us feel welcome and like family. The food was extra delicious and everyone loved their meal! I had a craving for rigatoni with vodka sauce and just like that.. it was on the menu! From the steak to the calamari to the Duncan's mushroom ravioli, we all loved our dishes. We also loved the appetizers including the cacio and pepe fries with chili aoli and the house salad with balsamic and gorgonzola dressing... each dish was a standout! My brother even commented that the anchovies in the Caesar salad were the mildest he had had which allowed the other flavors to shine through. Our server Lisa was kind, attentive, and took great care of us. As a vegetarian, there were a refreshing number of options- salads, pastas, risotto, and lots of sides. Dessert was also incredible with generous portions and spoons to share. Overall a very nice evening at Grata. I especially appreciated the way they subtly dimmed the lights right around 8. A great touch which created ambiance as if we were in Europe. Amazing job Grata! You have impressed us...
Read moreOrdered take out of the spaghetti pepe & cacio as a pandemic treat. Surprisingly, I've never seen this on an Italian Restaurant menu before. I've made this at home many times and love the simplicity and great flavors. Grata destroyed this classic by seasoning it with about two teaspoons of WHOLE black peppercorns. I really didn't notice when I looked at the dish (as they were mixed in) but it was horribly obvious on the first bite. Disturbingly crunchy and nothing but heavy black pepper flavor. Inedible! I looked up several recipes on the net afterward (bon appetite, food network, gimme some oven) and they all call for ground black pepper. I should have suspected something when I arrived to pick up my order and was bemused by loud the Beastie Boys music blasting from the kitchen which betrayed the ambiance of an otherwise elegant restaurant setting. I thought you could only find this quality of food on a sidewalk cart in the worst areas. I can't believe any serious chef would make this big...
Read moreChristina and Eric are running an excellent restaurant. We had a fantastic meal and were lucky to get a spot in the bar since we arrive on a Friday after 6pm without a reservation. While we waited, we asked about the place to a couple that just came in, they happened to be regulars, they gave us a whole intro to the menu which really elevated the expectations. We ordered the old fashion and Pinot to start, both amazing… and our bar tender listened to our questions and gave a great explanation of a few questions on their drink menu. We ordered the octopus, ravioli and lasagna… all of them were delicious and unexpectedly different than what the standard dish imagine. We loved it!!! Sitting at the bar gave us the opportunity to make new friends. In summary, we had an excellent dinner with drinks, in a vibrant place, had a chance to have a great conversation and meet new people, we felt like visiting a...
