UPDATE -- July 24, 2022 -- This is a follow-up to our previously posted review of our bad visit on Saturday, June 18, 2022 referenced further below. For our July 24, 2022 visit, we chose to use the Gift Card given to us by the 6th & Vine owner, as compensation for our previous bad experience. We arrived about 700pm, due to working late on Sunday afternoon, and aware of 6th & Vine's 800pm closeing. We requested an indoor table and were prompted seated and provided menus. Our waiter, Evan, arrived shortly and reviewed the day's Specials and brought our water and tea. We chose to order the Spinach & Artichoke Dip with gluten free chips, and two entrees....the Rainbow Trout and the BLAT Sandwich platter. The trout was perfectly prepared and served with cheese grits and steamed vegetables. The sandwich was served on fresh sourdough bread, with crispy bacon, lettuce, garden tomato and avacodo, with a side of roasted potatoes. Both selections were extremely flavorful, seasoned and delicioius! Along with endless glasses of iced tea and frequent check-back by waiter, Evan, we had an AWESOME dinner!! Congrats to the new Chef for creating a varied menu and intriguing specials!! What a difference a highly respected, new Chef and new wait staff has made!
Visited on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 815pm. Seated on Patio, but waited 8-10 minutes for waiter (Kevin) to arrive. We asked about ordering wine and food. Were referred to on table QR code for complete menu. No reference made to wine list posted on an empty wine bottle. We wanted to order the cheese & fruit tray, but waiter then advised us that Chef had quit 3 days earlier and only a very limited menu were available, not the cheese & fruit. Waiter returned with two, small printed menus with limited offerings, then told us the back side of menu wasn't even available either. We ordered a bottle of Sangria, which took about 6-8 minutes to arrive. We chose to order the Spinach Dip, but told waiter that one member of the party could not eat anything with gluten. We ask if we could have (potato) chips for the dip, instead of peta bread. Waiter returned with Sangria and poured same. We waited another 8-10 minutes for Spinach Dip to arrive. It did, but with peta bread, no chips. We advised waiter of chip requirement, no peta bread. He returned to kitchen. He returned to other tables, while we waited on chips. Finally, with no chips and cold dip, we again asked about the chips. He had totally forgotten about the chips! He finally returned again and said the kitchen didn't have any chips! So one member of our party was unable to eat the dip and couldn't eat anything else on the menu. We opted to drink some of the Sangria. When finally telling waiter that we wanted our check, we asked about any consideration for the bill, since no posting was on website about lack of a Chef, very limited menu and then waiter totally dropping the ball wiith his lack of knowledge of what was or was not available to order and his failure to offer substitutions (veggies, salads, etc) for guest with gluten issue. Long waits and required prompting to get waiters help further made visit intolerable. Waiter was able to eliminate the charge for the Spinach Dip after checking with manager. But charged full price for the bottle of Sangria. Overall -- EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE with no reference on website of Chef's resignation, no signate to advise diners of Chef's departure, inadequate cooks to prepare basic menu items, no offer by waiter of possible substitutions for gluten allergy customer, repeated waiter forgetfulness, repeated trips to kitchen to ask questions. HIGHLY ADVISE ANYONE TO AVOID 6TH & VINE until such time as they hire a Chef, hire a competent kitchen staff and hire competent waiters/waitresses that know the menu, know how to handle customers, think on their feet to address service failures and be proactive to give far better service! It was a very disappointing visit and not worth the $42 charged for the...
Read moreI'm a little disappointed to say the least. I have never written any review on a restaurant, ever, but I do think this needs to be said. We are in a food crisis as of right now, so it is imperitave that when you go to a nice restaurant, the food on the menu is exactly what you are ordering. My boyfriend and I took my Mom and family out for mother's day, which I can understand from behind the scenes it is a stressful day, but from what I saw, it was anything but. The servers were eating, talking, and we're not attentive at all from what I observed even when it not very busy when we went. The only reason I say this is because it took our server about 30 minutes to come to the table each time, and again, it was not crazy busy when we went so that was a little frustrating but that's not the point of this review. As someone who has a food sensitivity and flavor sensitivity, as well as a gluten allergy, I am very picky when it comes to my meals and will often times opt for a salad with a protein that's lightly seasoned, but never blackened which brings me to my whole point. I ordered the poached pear salad with grilled chicken. It was supposed to come with bibb lettuce (it did), white wine and ginger poached pears (yumm, where?), marinated grilled onions (sounds delicious, where?) , cucumber (it did), carrot(nope), crunchy quinoa(a sprinkle) and an orange yogurt dressing(a drizzle?!?!), and to top it all off BLACKENED chicken when the menu specifically states, GRILLED chicken. Not only was the chicken covered in pepper, so was the ENTIRE salad. WHY??? There were barely any toppings or dressing which what make the salad, so essentially I was served a 26$ bowl of pepper chicken and lettuce with a whisper of dressing. It was taken off the bill as it should have been, but now I'm sad and still starving. I only say this to either to simply either suggest to you as the staff to change it on your menu to blackened chicken, or tell your cook to not be so pepper happy and pick a...
Read moreI used to love this place. This was my first time back after the pandemic. My experience was absolutely terrible. I most likely will not be back.
We were sat immediately, but had to wait almost five minutes before we were greeted. Our server shows up with waters for the table which apparently means she saw us but for some reason decided not to greet us.
I asked to start with nachos as an appetizer, she advises us that it will be 30 minutes. I told her never mind and ordered the crab artichoke dip instead. We continued to order our entrees. My three children each ordered burgers, I ordered the bourbon salmon and the creamy lemon chicken for my boyfriend.
15 minutes later still no crab dip and the server comes to the table to tell us that they are out of burger buns, and that they can put our burgers on croissants. I reluctantly agree and ask her about the crab dip. She says it’s coming. Ten minutes after that I wave her down again and tell her if the crab dip isn’t ready we don’t want it anymore, just bring our entrees. I also request refills since we’ve been sitting there for 25 minutes with empty glasses.
She then returns immediately with the crab dip and refills my children's drinks and doesn’t even attempt to refill mine or my boyfriend’s.
The crab dip was extremely shallow and small. About twenty minutes after that they bring my entree and my boyfriends entrees out. It was another 10 minutes until they brought two of the three burgers for my children and I again had to wait another 10 minutes before they brought the third burger out. The salsa tasted like it was bad. It was extremely difficult for my children to eat their burgers on croissants. Our server never checked on us, I always had to wave her down or call her to the table.
There was no manager in sight. No one going to tables to make sure things were going smoothly. We paid 125.00 for an experience that...
