I was excited to try these legendary cinnamon rolls. However, they said they were out of stock and refused to make more. They didn't give us a logical reason as to why they could not make more. They simply said that if the shelf was empty, no more cinnamon rolls would be made today. Bummer! No big deal at first glance...
Meanwhile staff can be spotted in the kitchen snacking and browsing their phones in broad daylight. Insulting to say to my face that you cannot produce more of your flagship product when you're paying adult staff to scroll social media on the company dime. Cinnamon rolls can be baked in 20 mins or less. We would have gladly waited and sipped on drinks, but the staff member just stood there saying nothing. No upsell, no food reccomendation, nothing. All the signs were telling me they just do not care!
Upon further investigation, I found that Louie and Honey's Kitchen does not make their cinnamon rolls fresh anyways! The following text is taken straight from their Facebook page word for word from December 2023:
"Our rolls may be stored on the counter in an airtight container for several days. You can warm individual rolls in the microwave for 15 seconds and they will taste like fresh."
Their containers are not "air tight". They are simple cardboard containers that fold, similar to a donut box. Liars!
Reccomending the customer uses their personal microwave to bring the cinnamon rolls to a "like fresh" state? Why go to a bakery famous for cinnamon rolls if the only option is to purchase them cold? There is nothing "fresh" about microwaving old pastries.
"Our rolls may be stored on the counter in an air tight container for several days". SEVERAL DAYS... wow. To post this on social media is bold. Openly announcing to your customers that your flagship product, a pastry during christmas time, will be on the shelf growing cold & old for "several days" before purchase.
To top it off, the place was shoulder to shoulder packed. Line out the door, yet there is a massive but empty table blocking the entrance. Signs saying "please exit using back door". Customers crammed into every seat possible, while the rear end of the store has boxes and boxes of ingredients taking up precious floor space that could be used for seating or standing room. Not sure why anyone would subject themselves to this overcrowded play pen of trendy young adults.
I like supporting local businesses that provide exceptional service. Unfortunately at Louie and Honey's Kitchen, we had a shockingly coorportate experience. Customer service comes last because they get so much business, they can afford to treat you like a number. To be treated like a peon in line at the DMV, only to find out that the cinnamon rolls everyone else was eating were cold...
Read moreI'm new to the area and really wanted to like this place. The location is good, parking easy. Beautiful inside, clean and pretty~ tables on the outside walk. Baked good are presented well. But the first time we were in, it was like the girls didn't hear (or care to hear) our order. They got the coffees wrong and even forgot to charge us for an item. My husband rectified that by pointing it out (when we later looked at the receipt) and paying what we owed. I also thought my baked good was super sugary and saved part of it to finish later. Another time, I went in to buy a small cake--no type of cake in particular--I wasn't going to be picky. You would have thought that asking for half a cake would be a pretty simple and frequent request for a bakery. But it was like the two girls behind the counter couldn't figure it out and had to cut the half cake into 5 pieces and put it in 2 boxes when I kept saying that it was for someone's birthday and that I just wanted the half cake (intact.) The entire $80 + cake was also expensive (we only had a few people for dinner that evening) so half a cake worked. The other thing was that they only had one cake available--it was because it was a Monday (they said), so I'm guessing one should order beforehand or just go in for the limited sweet treats available. And that would have been okay had I realized that they don't have a lot of extra cakes available at the beginning of the week. I've been there three times thus far and their baked goods are super sweet. Unfortunately they don't offer much in the way of anything savory. I'm sorry to have to write this and I will give them another go because it is a cute place. But we came from a city, the size of Winston-Salem, with such a great bakery--upbeat, with a variety of beautiful selections (and privately owned) so I also think I was doing some comparing. My suggestion for them would mainly be to hire up- beat folks for the front counter because I don't want to feel like I'm bothering anyone. And I don't want to feel silly and hold up a line because I'm asking to purchase half and not a whole cake that's sitting there on a shelf. Also, a few savory offerings would be...
Read moreI first heard abt this place on social media and had it as a "must-go" destination. I went and was incredibly disappointed with the extreme lavk of customer service. When we walked in, we were not greeted at all and left to stand there for almost five minutes before being acknowledged. The man behind the counter was looking at the items he was placing into bags and purposefully didn't look up. He then walked to the register, chatted it up with someone, and only upon returning to where we were standing did he ask what we wanted. If the ppl I brought with me weren't so excited for the cinnamon rolls, I would have left. I purchased two cinnamon rolls, two chocolate chip cookies, and a mini key line pie for $41 and some change. Two stars bc 1) the cinnamon roll was good (good flavor, layered, fluffy, soft texture) although I have yet to try other items and 2) they had all items in stock that I wanted to order. I had a slight headache after eating the cinnamin roll- maybe too sweet? Additionally, something was "off" abt the atmosphere and def don't think they like Black ppl- we were stared at by customers on the way inside and once we walked inside and once again, ppl behind the counter said nothing. I didn't tip solely based off the lack of quality customer service. When I asked abt a receipt, the guy looked annoyed and was like "I can print one if you'd like" in a dry, short tone and to his surprise, I said that I would like him to print it. We are new to NC but it was like an unspoken rule like we weren't supposed to be there (✋🏽✋🏾✋🏿) or something or weren't welcome. I didn't like the vibe enough to go back but wanted to like it bc it seemed like a...
