I've been here a few times and really love the place. It can be a little pricy, but I feel like the portions justify it, and the quality of the food items is very good. I've never eaten something here and not enjoyed it. Brought my family back here recently to enjoy early dinner and was immediately seated. No reservations. The temperature had dropped significantly from the heat we were so used to just a month ago. You'd think for SURE we'd have to eat inside, and at most places, we probably would have needed to! Not here. They had spacious outdoor seating that was well sheltered from any wind blowing under the roof and large heating pipes overhead that were VERY effectively warm. Even hot if you were sitting at one of the tables directly in front of it, which we were. I had to take my cell phone off the table so it wouldn't overheat! Regardless, being able to eat outside made me especially comfortable considering there's a bunch of COVID variants floating around, one of which we don't know much about quite yet. We ordered the crab dip with buttered garlic bread to start which was absolutely delicious! The bread was crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. Couldn't have asked for it to be any better. The dip was generous in portion. We even had some leftovers! For my hubby, he ordered their grilled salmon. It came out on a bed of wild rice and asparagus. It was as yummy as it looked, delicious, and not a single bite was wasted. For me, the "Blackened Chicken Alfredo Pasta", but instead of the chicken, I substituted it with scallops. Instead of costing $18, it came out to $25 instead. I had no problem with that! It was so yummy! I couldn't finish the whole thing so I prioritized eating all my scallops while it was fresh and packed the rest to eat later. My toddler ended up getting what was left later when the fresh fruits we'd ordered for her finally ran its course and she was willing to eat a more substantial meal later that night. Nothing was wasted! I'll happily continue to keep frequenting this place.

While the name calls to mind a gas station-turned-pub, the Fourth Street Filling Station is a bit more upmarket than that. It isn’t fine dining but rather a place where you can get a steak. The worst that can be said about this place is that it isn’t terrible innovative: apps, salads, sandwiches, a few seafood and pasta dishes, and the aforementioned steaks. In the grand scheme of things, however, there are far greater culinary sins than not offering anything unique. The Filling Station boasts a spacious patio, and even as it got busier, our group of four was able to enjoy a comfortable meal. Our server was friendly and helpfully offered drink recommendations, and the kitchen didn’t leave us waiting long for our food. The menu boldly claims Winston’s Best Calamari, so we decided to put that to the test. While there may be a match out there somewhere, the Filling Station’s version is quite good: a generous portion, well-breaded, not overcooked, and paired with both a superb cocktail sauce and a tangy remoulade. My entrée – a jambalaya – was likewise very satisfying. I’ve had jambalayas that were disappointingly dry, and I appreciated the gravy in this one. Though it offered no heat, it was still flavorful, and the shrimp were sizeable. The Filling Station isn’t cheap – most entrees in the twenties and sandwiches in the mid-teens – but given rising food costs, the prices aren’t out of line for what they offer. If you’re looking for a “nice meal” destination with solid food and plenty of seating, the Filling Station presents an appealing option provided that you are OK with the somewhat predictable menu.

The Old Fourth Street Filling Station Experience (Call-in/Pick Up Edition). I called the Filling Station and ordered their southwest chicken salad with romaine lettuce, parmesan cheese, black beans, grilled corn, tortilla strips, and caesar dressing. It usually comes with a sweet and tangy fried chicken breast, but I requested grilled chicken instead. Upon arriving at the restaurant, my food was ready. I noticed they put the chicken and dressing in another container from the salad when looking in the bag. I appreciated this because I usually make this request whenever ordering a salad that comes with chicken. I'm not too fond of how hot food changes the texture of lettuce if it sits too long. Once ready to eat, I enjoyed my food. The person who prepared my meal seasoned the chicken well. I liked the different textures the salad offered and the caesar dressing on a southwest style of salad. I would dine again at The Filling Station.

The food was relatively tasty and reasonably priced. However, the customer service was horrible. I attended a bridal shower here and the customer service was beyond subpar. A party with us ordered a salmon salad. Said party was bought the incorrect item then told that they would be charged for the incorrect item as they advised the waitress just to keep the order of salmon and bring the salad. The order was then abour to be taken back into the kitchen. Mind you were still in Covid 19. This was the first blunder of many. After this the waitress continued to have a horrible attitude. When she approached the older guest our waiter after the first encounter was clearly irritated and overwhelmed. The manager did end up removing the additional items ultimately. Again, we were in attendance for a bridal shower with over 20 guest. Aka's, doctors, business owners and yet we were treated as if we weren't paying guest. It appeared that race was an issue. I still left a moderate tip but i informed the waitress that with a party this large she talked herself out of a tip because of her attitude. The service felt really rushed as well. Champagne was ordered to toast the bride. 2 bottles. During toast the manager walks in and interrupts the toast to bring the bill. I felt it was rude and insensitive. In addition, I ordered a pecan pie. The waitress advised that it comes warm. I received it cold and it looked as if it had been crumbled. I asked for another slice and it was brought out with an attitude. I waited at least 5 mins or more after being served for silverware. An extra ticket was found upon checkout for a burger altho no one in our party had the ticket. The manager continued to ask several times who had a burger as if we were lying altho most had salmon or chicken salads. We also were asked about parking. As im assuming a car had one of the employees blocked in. All parties confirmed that it wasnt iur vehicle that was parked where the employee advised but yet we were contimually asked multiple times. I will not dine here again. It was overall a horrible experience that felt as if we were being discriminated against. I do not say this lightly. I will not spend my money again at such an establishment. I've dined at fine dining and family causal dining with better etiquette and service. Some training definitely needs...

We have been many times. When we went on 6/14, we had a reservation for 7:30pm. The restaurant had several tables available inside and outside when we arrived. When we went inside, we immediately noticed a bad smell. It smelled like a cleaning product and not a good smelling one. The host was not very warm in greeting us and seating us. We had 3 in our party and he led us to a table right next to the kitchen. I asked if we could have one of the booths on the other side from Kitchen, as to not be in a busy space. He said those were saved for larger parties. But he waved us on to move if we wanted to, and we moved our menus as he walked in the kitchen. So unprofessional. I get that they like to keep booths for larger parties, but he could have been more accommodating and offered a compromise. There were several other tables and 4 booths empty. We noticed 3-4 tables that had not been cleaned. As we sat down and looked at menus and waited for our server, a worker began vacuuming with a noisy vaccuum right next to us. We were annoyed but ordered and knew the food had always been very good ever previous time. I have ordered the creamy tortellini 3-4 times previously and it was delicious and creamy. When I got it this time it was very, very runny. It seemed like someone had watered it down. I would like to say we did have a very good waiter. He was courteous and attentive and made nice conversation. As we finished our dinner, a worker began vacuuming AGAIN. I felt rushed, like maybe they wanted to close up. But then another party of 5 came in and were seated for dinner. Maybe this was an “off” night or it’s getting more difficult to find good staff. Regardless, we will not choose to be back any time soon. Too many...
