Putters Patio & Grill is a NOT a steakhouse. I visited Winston-Salem North Carolina couple weeks ago and was referred to this restaurant to get a steak. Of course me and in a small country town I was expecting a bit. We ordered there age Ribeyes. once ordered our server stated that the city will not allow them to sell aged Ribeyes anymore. The alternative he provided was his premium steaks which cost 40.00. My elderly dad who I came to visit had a taste for steak and I was taking him here for lunch. To buy chagrin when the server brought steaks I had no idea you could serve a less than 1/2 inch steak call it premium meat for $40 plus. I would have expect this type of quality at Denny's or the Waffle House. Not upset my father and so he could enjoy his lunch I ate thin, chewy, over cook, premium piece of horse meat. To this day I shake my head and wonder how this restaurant owner can call what he serve me their very best premium steak. The waiter said it was the best on menu. Being that I live in Chevy Chase Maryland and and enjoy access to the top 10 steakhouses in the country, Putters Patio and Grill is to a real steakhouse as to the weekend golf hack is to a PGA professional. If you want really bad service and the feel of really tough red meat in your teeth bring your dental floss and eat one of their...
Read moreSo, let's get one thing straight: this place is good, and I have been coming here for years. I often get the jalapeno nacho cheesesteak.
Jalapenos, nacho cheese, steak, simple, and delicious!
This is also the epitome of family-run businesses; they have been here for decades with the same ownership. Even though I had not been in the restaurant in over 12 months, one of the regular managers recognized me and struck up a conversation about where I had been and what I had been up to. That kind of service and care is not everywhere, that is for damn sure.
This is a great little dive bar to take friends and family out for an honest meal an a zesty adult beverage. They have a huge beer menu, and while their menu is a little limited (vegetarians seek other places to eat) everything on it is delicious, I have always gotten some form of “steak” here, and never been dissatisfied with my choices.
I cannot recommend this place enough,...
Read moreI visited this place as suggested by the employee and the Marriott I was staying, pretty much across the street. When I pulled up and saw on the side of the building,” Winston-Salem’s Best Steaks,” I got pretty excited. Well that went away quickly, I tried to order the Dry Aged Ribeye on the menu and was told they no longer do that because they were no longer equipped to do so. So I settled for the Ribeye I was able to get from the menu. I order Ribeyes or any steak for that matter at medium rare to medium, my steak was over cooked, it had no seasoning... salt and pepper is all you need if you know how to cook any steak. My service was bad and come to find out they close at 9pm or so, in which I arrived at 8:30-ish, not their fault but could have provided better service. I don’t think I’ll ever be in Winston Salem again but if I am, I will not be...
