Attended the Dream Asia Food Festival and had a mixed experience. Purchased tickets for $13/person through Ticketmaster and paid $10 for parking. I was really hyped after seeing all the Instagram reels, but honestly, the reality didn’t quite live up to the expectations.
👉 Pros: • A few food stalls had delicious dishes that were worth the wait. • Enjoyed the cultural dance performances—they added nice entertainment value. • Great variety of Asian cuisines represented.
👎 Cons: • Felt very crowded with too many people packed in at once—navigating between stalls was stressful at times. • Most of the food was overpriced and underwhelming in taste. • Be prepared for long walks, long wait lines, and extreme heat—shade and seating were very limited. • Overall event organization needs improvement—especially around layout and crowd control.
✅ Tips if you plan to attend: • Bring a picnic mat and umbrella for comfort and protection from the sun. • Wear comfortable shoes—you’ll be walking and standing a lot. • Arrive early to avoid the worst of the crowds and get food before lines grow. • Stay hydrated and maybe even pack your own water—some vendors ran out.
Overall, while it’s a fun concept and culturally rich, the experience was a bit too hectic and uncomfortable to...
Read moreI had an unfortunate experience with an employee at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Cary Hester and Rachel that I feel compelled to share. On 10/4/24, I encountered behavior that was inappropriate and racially insensitive. As a member of a diverse community, it is disappointing to see this kind of behavior in a place that should be welcoming to everyone. These actions not only made me uncomfortable but also reflect poorly on the organization as a whole. I believe that everyone deserves to be treated with respect, regardless of their race or background. I hope that management takes steps to address this issue, including offering additional training on diversity and inclusion to ensure that this kind of behavior does not continue. I would appreciate follow-up from the leadership team on how this matter will...
Read moreThe fairgrounds are fine but don't waste your money on The Drive movie theater. You have to buy tickets through Ticketmaster, so you end up paying a ridiculous amount of money to go to a pop up, makeshift drive in movie theater. Once they have your money, they no longer provide any customer service. We were instructed to park in a certain spot but couldn't see the screen. When we asked to move, they said no, so we went specifically to see a movie that we couldn't see. There were very few cars in the lot, so it wouldn't have been an issue. They wouldn't resolve the issue on site so I have asked for some type of resolution and they have said there's nothing they can do. That's not true. If you run a business, you can always come to a resolution...
