Let me begin by saying that I am an experienced "sushi snob." I'm a picky foodie and this was my first experience at ā€œThe Basil Leafā€ Thai and sushi restaurant. I ordered the chirashi sashimi dinner bowl. It was good and I wasn't completely disappointed with my meal, but it wasn't all that memorable either. At most restaurants, this is the type of dish that allows a sushi chef some added flexibility to showcase their creativity and passion. They often have fun with it and the customer experiences that. To me, sushi isn’t just about raw fish, the chef presents a craft. To foodies who read this review, do you agree? In this case, it was an assortment of basic sashimi on a bed of rice. The fish was fresh and the presentation was pleasant though not stunning, but I think that the overall preparation lacked thoughtfulness and creativity. The sashimi was cut quite large when most often I'd expect bite-sized portions; think nigiri. Some of the cuts could have easily been halved. There also wasn't much diversity in the chef's choices. Now, all of this having been said, it wasn't poor quality and the restaurant's overall feeling was clean and inviting. Also, the price point was something like $18 when it's not uncommon to pay $30+ for...

I had high hopes based on recommendations. The server was condescending, rarely refilled our drinks, but when she did, snidely said, "Looks like you're thiiirsty". When I asked for ice (because they just filled my glass with tea), she questioned why I needed ice. She tried to fill my son's cup with water, I told her he didn't have water, she picked up his cup to look in the bottom to prove it, because I guess she thought I would lie about that?? Irritating.

It took our food a long time to come out. They forgot to bring my sons food and only did bring it when I reminded them. Then they brought the wrong thing. When they finally brought the pad thai, it smelled disgusting and tasted worse. He took 2 bites and we took him to cook out for a burger after. My yellow curry... the actual sauce tasted amazing, but was WATERY. Like soup. It consisted of curry water, RAW ONIONS, RAW CARROTS, and tofu. I mean RAW. I couldn't eat anything but the tofu, then some spoonfuls of delicious curry water. I'll never go back. They took our credit card and set it down on a counter and walked away. I had to go retrieve it to safety and ask someone to run the card so we could...

Very disappointed. Haven’t been here in a while but always had a decent meal and never had to wait too long. They messed up our reservations for our group and made us wait over 30 mins. Biggest issue was not the wait it was they kept coming and telling us our table will be ready in a minute. Next came dinner after placing our orders our waitress came back about 5 minutes later saying she couldn’t read what she wrote down on my order and asked me again. About 20 mins later 3 meals came out but mine was not there. I was told it’s coming out in one minute. Ten minutes later she came by to tell me it coming out in one minute at this point our group had needed to start eating so their meals didn’t get cold. After a total time of about 20 minutes from when the group was served I finally received my meal. The point being is not the delay it’s honesty. Things screw up in kitchen meals get dropped but don’t lie to your customers honesty goes a lot further. If they had been upfront there would not of been an issue. On top of that my meal...

Ok, seriously. We were really impressed with this place. My husband is a sushi addict and VERY picky about the quality. Thai is my favorite cuisine so I also tend to be pickier about the quality. Thai Basil does not disappoint. We sat in their little outdoor area which was nice and shaded. Everything here was amazing. We ordered the fresh spring rolls with peanut sauce and they were so good and really well portioned. They gave us a complimentary hot and sour soup with a spring roll with sweet chili sauce as part of their lunch special, which was sooo nice because we had sat down right after lunch had technically ended. We got a bottle of sparkling peach sake- who knew such a thing existed?! I ordered the Pad Kee Mao (drunken noodle) which was amazing, and my husband got Pad Prik Pow (Chili Paste) and the Winston roll and was extremely happy with both (he said that roll was the most filling he may have ever had, in the best way!). Our waitress was very kind and helpful as well. 5 stars.

We love Thai food and we were disappointed when our normal Thai restaurant was closed on Sunday afternoon. We decided to try The Basil Leaf and see how things compared. The service at this restaurant was great. Everyone was kind, helpful and gracious. It was wonderful service. The appearance of the food was also really pretty. Sadly the quality of the food was disappointing. The very first thing I noticed was that they used frozen mixed vegetables in addition to fresh peppers in their panang curry. The Thai restaurant that we love uses all fresh vegetables... and the fresh crisp versus the soft mush makes a huge difference. Overall the flavors were just not as rich as we're used to either. The coconut milk tasted watered down in the dishes and really made the dishes somewhat dull. While I rate the service as 5 stars, I just cannot get past the disappointment with the quality of the food. Maybe we hit this place on a bad day, but I don't think we'll be trying it again.

My little and family went to go check this out today. It was our first time. We got the beef pad Thai, shrimp pad Thai, beef larb, and papaya salad. My husband and I are Cambodian and we LOVE stanky traditional beef larb and papaya salad. The waiter told me that they normally make it the Americanized why, but she can ask them to make it the stinky traditional way. the papaya salad that they made the traditional way was so good. SO SPICY, SWEET, SALTY AND SOUR. The larb was more on the Americanized way and was lacking lime, but it was still delicious. We loved our pad Thai. Sweet and flavorful. I loved the jumbo. succulent shrimp in mine. Also they brought out free starters. It was fried eggrolls or Springrolls as everyone knows it as and a kind if hot and sour soup. It was very good! We will be going back. Loved our waiter! She was so sweet. The man who made our spicy papaya salad came out to ask us how it was and that was really nice.
