Agape Agora recently opened on Central Ave just a few doors down from Obscure, the wine bar my wife and I love. It's run by the same ownership and staff. Their attention to detail in creating and bringing to life this concept is exceptional. From what we've seen so far, they have locally sourced produce, specialty pantry items, teas, desserts and more.
The place looks like a beautiful large kitchen in your grandmother's house, if grandma had sophistication and style. It also happens to be located in one of the prettiest buildings on Central in the old arcade.
Their menu changes every day, so it's best to follow on social media or scan their QR code for what they are serving that day. My wife and I ordered iced peppermint tea, chicken salad, cauliflower and potato soup, and a few pastries. Everything was delicious. It's a great place to grab a healthy lunch in a beautiful atmosphere. There are plenty of places to grab a burger or heavier meal, but Agape fills a need for something lighter, real, and healthy. We definitely cheated by grabbing some desserts to go, but those were hard to resist =)
I like to see a place emphasize locally sourced foods. The pastry case is filled with goodies from local bakeries in Winter Haven and Lakeland. The shelves have products from local vendors that attend the food markets around Winter Haven, Lakeland and Lake Alfred. They carry interesting items like dairy free chocolate bars, pickled green tomatoes, locally made hibiscus tea concentrate, tomato jam, and a bunch of other unique stuff I can't remember off the top of my head.
Overall, the place is designed beautifully, the staff are the sweetest people in town, the food is delicious, and the concept is great. I know there will be more things to come from Agape Agora as they expand and refine their offerings, and I’m looking...
Read moreThis was a weird place. We came from out of town specifically to visit this place based on their website, online menu, and reviews. It was nothing like what was advertised. There is a tiny room/kitchen where you order from an extremely limited menu, basically three items which you can have on a sandwich or in a bowl. There are no drink options other than $3 bottled water or lukewarm Perrier. You could sit outside in the breezeway, but since it was 97 degrees outside we chose to move the three indoor tables around for a little comfort. In doing so, we were treated to some questionable/somewhat vulgar music that was way too loud. No dessert option other than a cookie which looked past its prime. Although the food I had was good, I feel very misled and hope the restaurant takes ownership of their website in the near future to reflect the limited menu...
Read moreAgape Agora is an absolute gem in Winter Haven! I cannot rave enough about their delicious food and welcoming atmosphere. It truly feels like home. Their menu offers a wonderful variety of options, all of which are fresh and feel healthy. One thing I particularly love is their daily specials, which showcase their creativity and culinary expertise. The beef stroganoff stole my heart on one of those specials days—I'm eagerly awaiting its return! And let's not forget about their heavenly mushroom soup; it's a must-try. Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on their menu. Agape Agora has become my go-to restaurant, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable...
