Sugar & Slice Bakery — Restaurant in Winter Haven

I recently used Sugar and Slice for my daughters wedding on 10/20/2023. I found them through Google. The owner had amazing customer service. Everything was ordered over the phone without seeing or tasting and it was amazing. I ordered a small 2 tier wedding cake, a drum (grooms cake) and cheesecake bites for my daughters wedding. Everything tasted great! Both cakes looked amazing. The great thing is the bakery is only about 30 minutes from Bella Cosa, a popular wedding venue in Lake Wales. If you have an event or wedding there or anywhere nearby, you should use Sugar and Slice. I did not inquire about delivery due to having extra hands to send to pick everything up, but as accommodating as the owner was, they probably would have made delivery arrangements. I highly recommend this bakery and greatly appreciate that they cared about doing business with me. Not many businesses care about the customer experience anymore. Huge plus that everything tasted and looked great! I don't have great pics of the cakes right now, as I was busy enjoying the wedding and not on my phone, however if the owner sees this and would like to share any pics he may have, feel free. Hopefully, I will remember to come back and share some once photos come in from photographer. I can't say enough about how easy they made this experience for me. My daughter didn't want a huge elaborate cake and we weren't local to the bakery or venue. Being able to communicate over the phone and send pics for what we were looking for was great. I use sugar&spice quite often because I too am a treat maker so I buy edible images from them but I also purchased my wedding cake here, in the past I have always had a great experience with customer service with whom I assume is the father/owner today I asked for an edible sheet I only wanted 5 but was told it would be the same price ($15) weather I got 5 or a full sheet (72) she had also already printed the 72 so I said that’s fine I’ll take it. I come to pick it up and I check it to make sure it’s good but 12 out of the 72 images were half way off the sugar sheet with a gap of empty sugar paper on the other side so I said is there any way you can fix this since I’m paying for a full sheet I would like to get my moneys worth, the girl goes to the back and brings out what I assume manager/mom she tells me it was the printer and there’s nothing she can do I can either buy it or not it’s up to me, so I speak with my customer who the edible is for they still want it so I purchase it, then I was sent a message by one of the 3 ladies in the shop saying she wouldn’t be able to accommodate my changes in the future I said I’d no longer be a customer thank you for her time she then said she didn’t understand the issue so I explained it to her again and her response was “okay have a great day” sad to be treated that way from a business you shop often with.(photos of conversation have...

Update: I appreciate them being responsive and willing to make things right, I'm not local but I was eager to try the bakeries in this area, for them at least caring about my experience and not making excuses, I updated to 3 stars to be neutral. I wish them the best. I really wanted to love this place, I didn't feel super welcome when I came because I wasn't greeted but I didn't want to take it personally, when I initiated conversation the lady at the front was very friendly and responsive. I got a cupcake and a cheese cake bar, there wasn't very many options in the cold showcase like I saw online but they did have some cheesecake bars that looked really good, I was excited to try it but there was hardly ANY cheesecake and it was super firm/ didn't taste fresh.. almost like it's just been exposed for a few days. Not saying it was..possibly just overcooked since it wasn't that much filling in it..but I was very disappointed and just threw it away the Crust was not something where you would want that much more of. The cupcake was Moist so I was happy with that. I know now their bread and butter probably isn't walk-ins or daily item sales ...
