The older woman running the place needs a bigger kitchen, knowledgeable consistent help, and an attitude adjustment.
My wife and me went on a Friday evening after 5p. This place is also cooking the bar food for the bar across the hallway and taking to-go orders, which they do not have the staff, the kitchen, and the organization to do so. The help that was assigned to the woman obviously isn't there regularly and was a new person assigned to her from the bar across the hallway. While we were sitting there a few people came in to also eat but left, seeing that they were not going to get their food anytime soon. We just so happened to sit during a mild lull. I did not appreciate how the woman was speaking to the person assigned to her. He was just trying to help but she undermined him several times. But I'm no chef nor have I ever worked in a kitchen. I suppose if Gordan Ramsey's television shows is any inclining into how chefs speak to their staff, then her attitude is mild but still abrasive and I'd rather not know "how the sausage is made." Keep it calm and collected in front of guest. There was frequently not enough space at the eating area as the help could not wash dishes, sous chef, and take orders all at the same time without getting in the way of the person cooking. Hence my suggestion for a much larger cooking area.
The food was above decent but not good enough to ignore the rest of the experience or the price. Had it been half the price, I would have gladly ignored everything else and given the whole ordeal much more patience.
Another queer thing...I heard the woman picking at customers for wanting to order the duck confit bao. She said that it was "very interesting" that they wanted to order it considering they have never had it. I heard this and was confused because it was something that I was going to order on my second round of food. It's on the menu so...If you guys have never had it...common sense would say take it off the menu. I didn't make it to second round obviously.
Unsolicited Suggestions: Pick a struggle. On weekends and busy times, just be a ghost kitchen for the bar and shut down offerings for to-go and sit in. During every other period, do the "Lucky Kitty" thing. Take anything off of the menu that you don't have or offer. Increase the kitchen size or get...
Read moreIf I could give 0 stars I would. First off, it smells horrible in the restaurant. Second off, there’s not enough seating or kitchen space. And lastly but most importantly, the woman Lisa working there was extremely rude the second we walked in the door. I wanted to walk out just from the vibes but didn’t want to be rude and wanted to give the place a try because we were excited to try the soup dumplings! She kept giving us dirty looks and talking to us disrespectfully. She asked us if we wanted chopsticks or forks and I said both since my daughter couldn’t use chopsticks and she gave us a dirty look and repeated herself like we were stupid. So I said you know what just make it to go and she acted surprised/shocked and wanted to argue with me about why I was upset as a CUSTOMER. I then told her never-mind I just want a refund. At that point I didn’t want to eat the food. She tried to argue with me and didn’t understand why I was upset. I told her I just want a refund and let me leave. She then walked next door to the bar so we left without a refund. We also didn’t see her wash her hands after making other peoples food to go. This place looked so cool and the pics of food looked delicious but the horrible service makes it an unpleasant experience. Never gave a smile and acted like we were a bother to her the second we walked in. So after the dirty look and the way she talked to us I was done and didn’t want to eat there. I do not recommend this place at all. The other negative reviews...
