My husband and I stopped in on April 3. We were greeted and served by Terisha, but she told us to call her T. We had never been before so were eager to try out the new place in our neighborhood. I am not going to lie, I'd been having a really tough day and all I wanted to do was get our food and go home. But T greeted us with so much enthusiasm, I couldn't help but smile. We told her it was our first time in, and she told us to take the the time we needed. We went with the three meat platter and two sides - corn pudding and mac and cheese. We got to talking a little and I admitted that it had been a long, difficult day at work. She was so sweet and offered us drinks and a dessert to "change the way my day ended". It really was the nicest thing I had happen to me in quite a while, something so simple as a drink. But it was how she spoke to me, with understanding and sweetness. She also asked if we wanted corn bread, and waited to pack it until it was fresh out of the oven. Best corn bread I've had in quite awhile, y'all. It took us 10 minutes to get home. The food was still warm. The corn pudding was soft and savory. The mac and cheese was cheesy and not over cooked. We enjoyed our dinner. But really what made City BBQ so special for us was T. She went out of her way to be kind to us, strangers who walked into her workplace. She didn't have to be that welcoming, but she was. I hope she sees this, or her manager does, and knows how much that interaction meant to me in that moment. She was right, I ended my day with uplifted spirits knowing that there were still compassionate people out there. We will be back, becuase the food and the service of all the staff (we didn't get the other young lady's name and I feel bad for that) who we encountered that night. The restaurant was clean, condiments and paper towels well stocked. Staff was very attentive. Thank you so much,...

Jay made the food delicious! T she was amazing as always! Polite, professional and courteous everytime!
Can’t come to a better atmosphere! They always check on you and make sure everything is amazing! Thank you!
This was my first time visit and giving this restaurant a try. They just recently opened and I am so glad I stopped and gave them a try! Lilly greeted me while I was in line and gave me some insight into the menu before o ever reached the register! So happy for Lilly! Then when I got to the register Madison helped me out from there! She was so patient with me, with this being my first time. She was extremely helpful and nice! The atmosphere was awesome but was extremely loud and hard to hear at the register but Madison was patient and made sure my order was right and that we didn’t miss anything. They call your name and you pick up your food from the counter on serving trays. Cute concept and keeps everything moving! For food we tried chicken tenders, French fries with queso and bacon, so good! Pulled pork was succulent, seasoned well, moist and tender and super juicy! This was the best I have had in a long time! My honey had the dirty bird chicken sandwich and he said it was very tender and seasoned just right. The Mac n cheese tastes like yummy southern cooking with real Cheese! Not the fake stuff! I am very picky when it comes to Mac n cheese and this stuff was open and gooey and del ious! Lastly the collard greens! Wow! Exactly what o would want and expect from any bbq place that’s going to serve collards! It was phenomenal!
Overall very happy! The only complaint is how loud it is when you are in line trying to order. Otherwise, good, timing. Taste, speed of service and freshness was amazing and I will definitely be back!...
Read moreI dined in here with my family on Saturday, January 18 around 5:30 pm. It was my first time trying City Bbq. The staff were friendly and helpful, which was unfortunately the only positive thing that I could say about my experience. The drink and condiment station were pretty dirty, the dining room floors and tables were pretty dirty, and aside from the fried food (fries, okra, and hush puppies), most of our food was cold. When I say cold, I don’t mean on the colder side of lukewarm/room temperature, I mean it just came out of the refrigerator COLD. I got shredded cheese for my chili in a little plastic cup, and when I added it to the chili it never melted, COLD. The brisket was lukewarm but the pulled pork was also refrigerator cold. The hush puppies were burnt and therefore had a bad taste. Everything tasted off since it either wasn’t the right temperature or wasn’t prepared correctly.
I will say that I was brave and reheated some of my leftovers today and the food tasted MUCH better reheated. I’m not sure if I will retry in the future though because of my experience. Hopefully, this won’t be everyone’s experience because the staff were very nice and helpful.
EDIT: After reading other reviews, it seems like quality control may be something that City Bbq needs to work on since there are multiple other reviewers who have mentioned that they either had undercooked or overcooked food served to them as well. I will also say that when it comes down to the flavor of the actual barbecued meat and sauces, I was somewhat disappointed. I think that Sonny’s or Mission Bbq are better chains for barbecue personally. The meat was not very smokey, the original sauce had a bitter taste to it, and nothing that I had there was really memorable or stand out from...
