UPDATE: I came back to this restaurant and had an amazing dinner on the back patio with our puppies. The service was a bit slower (not even close to as slow as the first time), so please prepare to come and wait a little bit, but it's so worth it for the food! You'll want to come try this place out.
by this cute little Irish Pub and had to circle the block to come back to try it out. Started out a little rough by coming in as we waited, standing by the hostess stand for about 10 minutes without anybody greeting us. The place seemed lively with great music on the speakers, and it was trivia night, so it was pretty happening. Finally a waiter noticed us and informed us to just find a table and someone would get to us soon. We waited at the table for about another 20 minutes before a server noticed us and stopped by to greet us and apologize profusely for the delay. She took our oder and our drinks arrived in another 10 minutes. I took the opportunity to visit the bathroom, and it smelled like a bathroom at a public park. It was decently clean, but I didn't want to touch anything with my hands as the smell just made me feel like it was unclean in there. Finally got our food. The food was very authentic tasting, and we gobbled it up quickly. As we were waiting for our check, there were people coming in and sitting at other open tables around us. Then our waitress excised herself from our table and hurriedly went over to the couple groups to inform them that they couldn't sit there because the room was reserved and that they had to get up and leave. The one couple got up very frustrated and immediately exited the restaurant. The other group tried to find another table that was large enough for a wheelchair and ended up unsuccessful and eventually left the restaurant as well. Since this was our first visit here and didn't know if this was a normal occurrence, we asked that same waitress if this was a normal occasion. She again apologized and informed us that a couple of servers had called in sick today and that it typically isn't this chaotic and that we should try this place again in he future. Therefore, I'll reserve my complete review until our next visit. Make sure to come back to see how it goes. Until then!
NOTE: If this review has helped you in any way, PLEASE like this review so it can be elevated faster for them to be informed of how well that they are doing! If you have a different experience than I had, I'd love to know about your experience to see where our differences were. Thanks again for...
Read moreSo some friends and I were in downtown Winter Park for some Christmas party in Central Park, and we got hungry. Every single place off of Park Avenue was packed to the brim with people, so we decided to walk down the street to get to this pub. I love Irish pubs, so I was totally down. We get here, and we are instantly greeted with the live music that's going on. Two guys, one on guitar-type instruments and one on the violin, both singing. They serenaded us with traditional Irish tunes, covers of Motown, and other random stuff. It was great.
We get the menus and take a look. I order the Fish and Chips (Three large center-cut filets of Atlantic cod dipped in beer-batter, fried golden brown and served with our award-winning potato wedges and homemade remoulade sauce). My girlfriend gets the Irish Reuben (Thin-sliced corned beef on marble rye with sauerkraut and Swiss, served with potato wedges and Thousand Island dressing on the side).
My fish and chips are a-ok. The cod was cooked perfectly, and the batter around it was nice and crisp. But it was also a tad bit soggy and oil-laden, which wouldn't be awful usually, but the batter also just wasn't seasoned even a little bit. I had to rely heavily on the remoulade and ketchup to spice up my fish a little bit. The potato wedges were the best potato wedges I've ever had in a Irish pub, though. Seriously. Get them. Wow.
My girlfriend's Reuben was a five star dish. The corned beef was bursting with flavor, the kraut was not, just the way I like it. It was just there for a textural element that brought each bite of sandwich together in your mouth. And the dressing was dressing. With the wedges, I think this is a great dish at a great value.
Our server was great. We were there for a long time listening to music and waiting for the Irish car bombs to be $5 at 10PM. The atmosphere was great. The place is just beautiful. I'm going to have to go back, because there was a lot of stuff I'm wanting to try. Maybe I've found the place that replaces McGuire's in my life ever since I moved here from Pensacola. That remains to be...
Read moreHorrible. So disappointed. I’ve been trying since YESTERDAY to order food. I finally got through, yesterday, and was told to get delivery, I needed to go through the Uber eats app. The fiddlers green page at that app shows the full menu, but every single thing on it is listed as unavailable. So I tried to call today, for curb side delivery. They apparently gave up and took their phone off the hook. So I drove over, trying and trying to call for curbside delivery while standing in a line for over an hour just to put my name on a list for what would be over an hour wait even for one seat at the bar - NO curbside delivery- but of course, they could have told me that over the phone if they’d just answered!!!
NO SOCIAL DISTANCING. Lots of people NOT WEARING MASKS. I certainly won’t be surprised if there’s an outbreak thanks to this.
Here’s a thought - plan for success. If you know you’re going to be busy, invest in a phone system that can handle it, and the extra staff to man it, so someone who does the right thing and tries to call ahead 24 hours in advance does not get put through what I experienced tonight. Don’t advertise curb side pick up if it’s not actually available. Don’t tell people they can order home delivery from Uber eats if they can’t.
In short, don’t lie, and be competent!
I brought my mom to this place all the time and used to recommend it to my friends, but no more.
I will not be dining here again, and I will warn everyone I can tell away, until this place is under new management, new ownership, or both!
You’d better hope you make enough money tonight to carry you the other 364 days a year that people like me used to patronize your restaurant, because I was far from the only unhappy, hot, put at risk of Covid person there, and I can’t imagine this will be the only horrible review you get from this debacle.
Just answer the damn phone! That’s all you needed to do! I just wasted an hour that I will never get back because you couldn’t be bothered to keep your phones working. That’s just...
