Let us begin by first introducing the setting. We decided to come to Mynt for my very good friend's birthday. We were very excited, as Indian cuisine is her favorite and we had seen many great reviews highlighting this location. Upon our arrival, we had high expectations and were seated relatively quickly. We each ordered the recommended butter chicken, stated to be julienned and boneless, without a hitch.
When the food was served, I immediately noticed that the order was incorrect. We had ordered one serving of garlic naan and one serving of butter naan. We instead received two garlic naan. Additionally, each entre was stated to come with a rice, and instead of 3, only 2 arrived. What an absurdity! After telling this to the wait staff, we were brought another bowl of rice, but the server gave us problems with the naan, telling us that the butter naan was simply under the garlic naan, when clearly all the naan was garlic. This is also after the individual who brought us the food told us it was two garlic naan. Eventually, he took the naan back to the kitchen and came back with one "butter naan" and one garlic naan. I was initially pleased with this until placing the long awaited butter naan upon my ever expecting tongue, only to taste ... GARLIC!!! Can you believe it?!?! The waiter simply took the bowl to the back, and separated the naan into two bowls! PERPOSTEROUS! I was willing to overlook this attack on my integrity. If you've stuck with me this far, just wait, because the worst is yet to come.
We began to dive into what seemed to be exquisitely prepared bowls of butter chicken, when all of a sudden, my friend gasped beside me, exclaiming that she had bones in her chicken. I look and, sure enough, there are shrivels of bone in a mass on her plate. I brushed it off as something the kitchen could have overlooked regardless of the fact that it was supposed to be boneless. Only later did I myself find bones in my own chicken. However, unlike the bones my friend found, these were quite sizable, comparable to something like a knuckle or small rock. What a choking hazard-- am I right?! Our waiter offered to take off one item from the bill, but for the rest of the night, essentially ignored us, not apologizing, responding to our thank-yous, and also generally acting dismissive and silent, making us feel as though we were no longer welcome.
Eventually, when we were ready to go, we were presented with the check, and you would not BELIEVE what was on there. Trust me. I'll give you a minute to guess... ready? Garlic. Naan.
Garlic naan.
2 of them.
I was simply speechless. I had never acted like such a Karen in my life, and as someone who generally never tips below 20%, I still felt extremely, EXTREMELY generous giving 12%. Given that we had created a reservation ahead of time, planned the whole day around this event, and had been looking forward to it for days, I could not have been more disappointed and embarrassed to have suggested this location for such a significant event. The staff for the most part were nice, the food tasted alright, but all in all, if I had to choose between coming back here and eating drywall for dinner, I think you can infer where I'd be dining. The orders were wrong, we almost choked on large bones in a boneless meal, we were charged incorrectly, and the staff brought us the same food that we returned to the kitchen. No words besides...
Read moreThis place continually gets recognized as one of the best Indian restaurants in town, but it has eluded me for too long. One day, I said you know what? I'm gonna go. So I made a reservation, showed up on time, and had one of the better Indian meals of my whole life.
The menu is a little simplified compared to other places, probably to appeal more to the local clientele, but I didn't mind. Sometimes, too much choice overwhelms. I got to focus in, enjoy my delicious Mango Lassi, and pick what sounded to be the best of the best.
We started off with the Chinese Bhel (Noodles | Fresh Mix Veggies | Tangy Seasoning). Already, unlike anything I've ever experienced before. Very crispy noodles and fresh, prominent veggies, all held together by that aforementioned tangy seasoned sauce. Very fun, very unique, can't really describe the flavor. You just gotta try it. I love chaat.
Then I ordered an old favorite, the Vegetable Samosa (Crispy Turnover | Stuffed Seasoned Potatoes | Peas). This was excellent. Classic. Crispy on the outside, very soft and well seasoned on the inside. Not too many peas. Served with two wonderfully sauces on the side. Can't go wrong with these.
Then for the main event, the Mynt Mix Grill (Tandoori Sampler). This was a mix of all the tandoori meats, all cooked to perfection. Boneless Chicken, Lamb, Salmon, Jumbo Shrimp. Maybe a couple others, too, I forget. All of it moist and juicy and delicious. Tandoori can get dry pretty quickly, but these guys handled it right. Served with sides of butter sauce and basmati rice, this was literally perfect.
I also ordered a side of the Garlic Naan (Unleavened Bread Topped With Garlic Butter), because I swear, I will never see naan on a menu and not order it, no matter where I am. Also perfect. Pillowy and garlicky on top, crispy to a snap on the bottom. Always brings me back to my childhood with Momma's tortillas.
Finished off the meal with some Gulab Jamun (Fresh Mawa | Condensed Milk). A couple of soaked fritters sitting in a pool of the soaking liquid. This was lovely. It's heavy, but light at the same time. It's not chocolate, it's not fruit, it's in the middle, so if you want to get out of those two major highways of dessert categories, try this!
Overall, wow, this was so lovely. I see how they can go blow-for-blow with the other big boys of Indian food in Orlando. Who's the best? Who knows. I'll just have to keep...
Read moreIf I could give a Zero for service I would do that. I have been there couple of times and recommended so many ppl, but on November 5 what I experienced was the worst experience of my life. I took my friend out for her birthday lunch, they had buffet till 2:30 pm! We arrived at 2:00 pm as soon as we arrived the waiter was like we will close at 2:30 pm, I was like ok. So, my dad has been a chef for 20 years, the rule is you serve the customer even if they come 10 mins before closing they enter the restaurant. The waiter was so rude, he literally kept the cutlery thrown on the table without a napkin and I told him to change it, he said it’s fine and didn’t change it. Then when we started eating he constantly kept on rushing us. There were still ppl in the restaurant but he constantly kept on coming to our table and telling us they are closing and he was so so rude. Me and my friend we grabbed our food before they close. It doesn’t end there, my friend was eating and he literally told us to leave because they are closing it for lunch and preparing for dinner. I said can we finish, he said we close the gate at 2:30, and literally told us to leave without finishing our meal. We paid for the food and we literally couldn’t eat it! I don’t know if he had something against us but that’s not how restaurants do business, I have been late to other restaurants but they have never ever behaved like this. You are supposed to serve and let the customer eat even if they come 10 mins before you close. I went literally 30 mins before and my friend was eating on her birthday. Worst service ever!!...
