Stoneham Woburn Indian Food — Restaurant in Woburn

I want to start this review by Saying "AVOID AVOID AVOID" So we were craving for some momos and came across Namaste. Should have checked the reviews in details, prior to heading out there. We were greeted by a lady (probably owner). we were seated and after a couple of minutes of exchanging some stare, we got the menu. We kind of knew what we wanted, but as formality got the menu. We ordered and she inquired if we needed any drinks. We ordered water with ice, which was served almost after 10 mins. The first appetizer was served after 40 mins. then came the 2nd appetizer. it was "Gobi Garlic". Literally 2 florets of gobi and the dish was filled with sautéed onions and garlic. They should rename this dish with garlic onions with Gobi. We had ordered a main dish "Tandoori Shrimp Masala" The masala curry was loaded with sugar. They should rename this dish as "Red Curry Tandoori shrimp Rasmalai". While serving the lady kept on saying, it is delayed because, everything is made fresh. Said it a few times, which is another red flag. The food was stale STALE and it was pre-prepared. Anyone who savors good food will tell the food is not fresh at all. Anyone getting a peek in the kitchen, will immediately avoid this place. From the time we were seated, till we said happy holidays, 2 hrs had passed. If you are looking from some Indian Food, there are far better places to go in the vicinity of Somerville/Malden, Woburn, Andover area. In all I would rate this place as a "(minus) - 10 /...

Wow what happened to this place? I used to love the food here when it was Taj. We drove to Stoneham from Peabody to eat here and get take out. Then they changed the name to Namaste ( I am not sure if they changed the owner or chef too). About two months ago I got take out and the food was still good ( I ordered goat curry and it was all bone and gristle but the bit of goat in there was good), not as good as when it was Taj but better than other Indian restaurants around this area.

Today I ordered delivery and what a major disappointment! The lamb briyani was tasteless had very minimal amount of lamb, the Nepalese curry chicken was soupy, tasteless and mostly chicken bone (my son refused to eat it because it was so bad and ordered delivery from a different restaurant). We threw out the garlic naan because it was awful and the two desserts we ordered ( the rice pudding and the carrot concoction) were both awful. We spent with tip, $68 for inedible food.

I keep asking myself, what happened to this place? Did they change the chef/cooks again? Is it because of covid and restaurants think they can serve substandard fare and get away with it? Whatever the reason, I am not ordering from here again. In fact, I am taking a break from ordering anything other than pizza and sandwiches, at least when the food sucks you are only out of twenty plus dollars and not almost...

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER in 7 years!!! This restaurant serves the worst tasting food in Boston. We went there and ordered 4 appetizers, and after a long wait only 2 came and they gave excuse the chef lost the rest of the order, please order again. How the hell that happened? Nobody had an answer.

We ordered again and then also ordered main course with it, After confirming from the server what is good in the menu as it was our first visit. Finally the order arrived which did not taste good. We were hungry so ate the appetizers but entree was not at all edible. We decided not to eat and informed the owner of the restaurant.

And then the bill arrives, it had everything + the entree we did not eat. We called the owner and she said that this dish is little modified and not everybody likes it, to which we said that we asked the server what is good before placing the order. Her response was “that guy is new”. What the hell? Is that an excuse? Then she said we made it you will have to pay, and argued with us. We said we will pay for the rest, but not for we did not eat. This is how it works everywhere, without any discussion. And after lot of argument, she finally agreed and took it off the order.

This was our bad experience, but irrespective of that, the service and food is pathetic....
