My partner and I recently stopped in for breakfast after visiting family and were pleasantly surprised at how good this tiny hole in the wall diner was!
Items ordered: Meat lovers omelette, Ham & Swiss omelette, homemade cinnamon roll, homemade corn beef hash
Pros: Both omelettes were tasty and cooked perfectly The cinnamon roll was fresh, hot, and delicious The corn beef hash was absolutely to die for, and is apparently made fresh daily (which was evident with how good it was) The homemade hot sauces on the table were some of the best I've had Waitstaff was extremely friendly and hard working Tiny and quaint atmosphere, very traditional and homey
Cons: The diner is cash or Venmo only. The ATM to the left of the diner was out of service and the convenience store in the plaza with an ATM is closed on Sunday. A little inconvenient, but nothing majorly annoying Waitstaff appears to be comprised of 1-2 people. While this might seem to make sense for a small diner, the head waiter definitely seemed like he could use some help to take some of the load off While the diner's small size adds to the atmosphere and style, it can definitely be hard to get around if you are tall or large
Overall: My partner and I will definitely be coming back for breakfast when we visit family again this summer. Every con I listed was so incredibly minor that it didn't really take away from the experience. I can highly recommend Katie's Kitchen to anyone looking for a nice, home style breakfast with friendly service. We will...
Read moreGreat place! The food is only outdone by the friendliness of the staff. With a packed house & a line out the door, they still managed to chat with patrons as the wielded coffee pots; delivered plates of delicious food like the Eggs Benedict I had, or ran the grill with a masterful hand & eye that is sure to impress anyone who has ever tried to even cook a 3 course meal, never mind, breakfast for somewhere between 40 to 50 people. Their pancakes are the size of a dinner plate, the omelets are stuffed FULL! The breakfast sandwiches are excellent. Step aside Golden Arches, THESE are the real deal! Oh, & bring your appetite, these things are huge! The biscuits & gravy are fantastic, I had those brought home to me at another time; the rest I watched being prepared in front of me as I sat at the counter. I haven't had one of their cinnamon buns; but I have it on good authority that they're incredible. I look forward to my next visit here as I saw they make their own Corned Beef hash....
Read moreWe stopped by Sunday morning on our way back home after a weekend in Maine. I got the Biscuits and Gravy, which was honestly lackluster. I wasn't impressed with the taste of the gravy - it was made with sweet italian sausage instead of breakfast sausage. Completely understandable, but there was no attempt to match the actual flavor profile of a sausage gravy. That said, the sauce itself was great for what it was! It held up and wasn't oily and it was the right consistency. The biscuit was also homemade, and a really nice portion. Unfortunately the bottom was burnt. I also had a cup of chili - delicious. The service and atmosphere were great and you can tell that the staff have a really good working dynamic. It was very busy but staff still made sure to check in which is always appreciated.
All in all it was a good experience, if I find myself going to Katie's Kitchen again I'm excited to try the Avocado...
