Goldberg's Original Bagels — Restaurant in Wood-Ridge

This Begal store is decent the food is ok and the orders are quick due to having a nice sized kitchen. The one star review comes from the staff deciding to turn their phone off for 20 minutes as me and my father tried to coordinate a pick up order. I call it in and he would grab it on his way home. Due to Wood-Ridge having such poor cell reception not only could I not reach the Begal store who turns customers away at their leisure I also couldn’t get in touch with my father. My 73 year old handicap father walked in and out of the store asking if a phone order had been placed 3 separate times over 15 minutes before the staff finally told him they shut the phone off. This store and their lack of caring who gets to Oder their food at 11am on a Saturday plus the fact the staff didn’t even want to come clean about it are enough to make me search for greener pastures. Hopefully the owner takes charge of the employees and no one has to hear a busy signal due to phones being purposely cut off by lower staff. People's reviews who say that their orders are messed up are from months ago when they first open. I don't think the small bagel shop expected such a huge crowd to come in. So I don't think that they were fully ready and had a full staff ready to help the customers. I know for me personally the first month two months of ordering food there my orders did get messed up but they were super easy and ready to fix the order for me. And I still been going there for the past 5 or 6 months and my orders are just fine. They haven't messed up since maybe the first month or two of opening. Their bagels are always fresh and delicious. Their egg salad is absolutely delicious along with their cream cheese and their corn muffins and the chocolate chip muffins. They really are a great bagel place to eat at. So give them a try and if you order gets messed up just call them. Or double check your order before leaving It's not that hard I don't know why people are complaining about that, It's...

Edit, 09/2025: we no longer go here for several reasons - first and foremost the pricing, but second to that, the staff are rather curt and it almost feels as if you're bothering them with your order. There are better options nearby.

Edit, 4/2021: the photo I added was a mistake by the employee, they don't give chips and pickle slices with the nova lox special. I come here pretty often and it was definitely a fluke so I removed the photo.

Also, today I noticed a "non-cash fee" not disclosed anywhere else added to my transaction. A bit pricey for the area, quality has become pretty average for bagel places in the area.

Original review: Great place to stop for lunch! I ordered the #40 - poppyseed bagel, lox, and onion (left off the tomatoes and capers). I really love that they include chips and pickle slices - the pickles were crisp and fresh, and everyone knows ridged chips are the best.
