I was in town for my mom's birthday and my brothers decided to take her here. The restaurant is very large with two big areas for eating. We parked on the street so I'm not sure if they have parking.
We were served with some chips and salsa as we made our decisions on what to eat. I settled on a quesadilla, forgot what the whole name was but it was filled with rice, beans, grilled chicken, and cheese (not enough cheese). The quesadilla was basic. Not much flavor and certainly not enough cheese. Everything inside was falling out. It came with a side of guac, sour cream, and pico de gallo. Not enough of any of that either. Plus the guac was mixed in with some shredded lettuce which was too deceiving for me. It was like a tablespoon of guacamole--not cool.
No one raved about the food at our table. My mom enjoyed her 'molcajete' which came with a lot of different food and definitely something to share. I nibbled on some of her food and some shrimp. Not the best flavors, kind of bland.
The highlight was probably when they brought a big sombrero for my mom to wear while we sang her Happy Birthday and she blew out the candle from her small flan cake, compliments of the restaurant.
I wish I experienced more flavor here. The service was nice and my mom enjoyed her...
Read moreWent there on our way back home from Sacramento. Nice place, got there around 6pm and it was pretty packed. There were only two waiters but they promptly took our order (to-go) and said our food would be ready in 15 mins. So we waited at the nice little wood-gated patio with several clean tables they had outside onto part of the road. The only reason I put 4 stars was because they were so busy that they couldn’t/didn’t bring us our order after 20 minutes passed. I had to go in, ask for our order (two burritos) and they said they had it done already, and they handed it to me as I said thank you. A little more concentration on whose waiting for what would’ve been better, we might’ve not waiting so long. But otherwise the two burritos supreme’s were delicious! ($17 ea) maybe because they were supreme. Nice restaurant overall, good atmosphere, clean environment and nice cultural music to go with it all. Maybe a bit more waiters would be nice so they wouldn’t be scrambling in their thoughts, but it was a nice experience to go downtown...
Read moreEl Charro Mexican Restaurant was certainly a great find for us.
We've loved everything we've ordered, off their menu, particularly their Chile Rellenos, which are so delicious, perfectly-executed & a cheese lover's dream.
This time, I ordered the Steak Ranchero. This dish is swimming in a tasty Ranchero sauce, & has the perfect compliment of bell peppers & onions, to go with their thinly-sliced steak strips.
Their crisp tortilla chips & salsa gets us primed, for the ridiculously flavorful food coming out of the kitchen, here.
Their service is friendly, & speedy, as well. There are 2 large sections of the restaurant inside, plus a fairly sizable outdoor patio, should it not be too hot outside. The restroom is in the back of the restaurant, jogging left, into secondary...
