Repurposed from a bank, this Irish pub-style restaurant does not just offer a meal. It offers an experience with live music on Thursdays and an upcoming St. Patrick's Day event. There is covered outdoor seating next to heaters but indoor seating is where you would get front-row seats to the band playing familiar favorites, like Danny Boy. You seat yourself and can choose between tables and sitting at the bar. Staff are friendly and even recognize regulars to Father Paddy's. We ordered the cajun prime rib bites as an appetizer and, oh boy, was it tender and flavorful. Bathed in olive oil with a delicate mix of vinegar and spices, juicy cuts of beef were complemented with the bite, zestiness of the horseradish cream served on the side. For our main dishes, we enjoyed the fish and chips and the shepherd's pie (with soda bread). Potatoes are transformed into tasty sides here; the fries had a housemade flavor and the mashed potatoes embracing the shepherd's pie were fluffy. Although the meat and vegetable mix in the shepherd's pie came together into what can be truly defined as comfort food, we were surprised that butter was not included on top. Our desert came highly recommended by our waitress: the fireball apple crisp. With the scoop of vanilla ice cream adding creaminess, the sweetness of syrupy apples is buried under the treasure of rolled oats and granola. The combination of crunch and softness worked well.
I'd say the prices are a bit on the high end for the portions and quality of food but, taking into account the overall experience, coming here is more about the environment and people. The main draw of this pub and restaurant is to enjoy a meal while basking in the jolly musical stylings of the live band, shaking a noisemaker together with others, and laughing...
Read more5/5 atmosphere their staff are wonderful, Ellie? I think welcomed us in, she said she was off the clock but remembered talking to us on the phone so she found us our table and got us set up. She was so friendly, this was at 6 o clock, come 11 she was still there chatting to us and all the other customers! She said she loved the place and we believe her!! When someone loves a workplace that much it makes you feel good about being there!
The food was good, I did get the wrong dish but it was corrected - the waitress did mention the menu recently changed so a bit of confusion was understandable
I had the keto taco salad with chicken - they didn't mention it was chicken or beef on the menu but I'm glad it's was offered as the chicken was cooked perfectly and really well seasoned. The salsa on the salad had a nice kick! - I love spice so this was perfect! Overall a great experience for me!
Wonderful that a table with a mix of people who are keto, vegetarian, gluten free or dairy free were able to sit down together and all have our dietary requirements met!
The waitress couldn't apologise enough for the wrong dish coming out and all the staff we met throughout the night were friendly and helpful
As an Irish person who moved to California 9months ago this is definitely the least cringe most actual Irish feeling ‘Irish pub’ I’ve been into!
I would drive to woodland for this spot over De’Veres in Davis any time, the welcome in you’re part of the family vibe felt very Irish. I would love to see a more Irish menu with like a full Irish fry up.. or a bacon and cabbage dinner but I dont know if that appeals to an American audience 😂
Either way we will...
Read moreFirst, a bank . . .Chinese restaurant, Hof Brau, Mexican restaurant (Paco's), now, Father Paddy's. While the center of "the bank" decor changes with each new owner and restaurant type, you can still see the old bank by just looking around. The waitress was slow getting to our table and we almost walked out--despite the fact that we were the only customers at the time. Finally we placed our drink order, and eventually our dinner order. We ordered Shepherds Pie and fish and chips (kettle chips). The beer batter fish was the best I've eaten in--literally--years. It was AWESOME! The home made kettle chips were very good, too. My husband's Shepherds pie, made with lamb, was tender and tasty. We will be coming back soon to try other fare on the menu. I also enjoyed a bowl of delicious clam chowder. Parking can be tricky, as street parking outside, often is full, even across the street. Sometimes you can drop off handicapped persons, elderly, or those who can't walk far, and then you can go park the car further down the street. This is the only real draw back to dining here. The bar, by the way, is centrally located in the restaurant, easy to find. Nearby are some real gems, not to be missed. Most notable is TIMOTHY'S BAKERY. Don't miss this wonderful bakery. A very well-kept secret is a marvelous hairdresser by the name of Kenneth Marion who has taught Paul Mitchel colorists, and who is in demand by movie stars, personalities, and the wealthy. He has a modest salon in Woodland, called THE SALON. I drive an hour to have him do my hair--and an hour home,...
