Man I wanted so bad to like this place. Everyone is nice but the chef must not have liked me asking for whatever I get to be not spicy.

Got home after picking it up and taste tested whatever was on top bc of how much pain I get when I get something spicy on my tongue

. (This isn’t normal I know and I just moved here from sf yesterday and was referred to a specialist I didn’t get to see so I’m going to find a clinic here).

Anyway so I call and offer to bring back the dish so they could see I didn’t t eat it. Turns out what was on top was spicy he told her in Spanish.

They remake it with the cheese that comes with the chips, which I had already tested at home and it has no spice whatsoever. I was very happy. I drove back home, opened up the burritos and I noticed there was a green salsa on top. ….

Now, like I said, I taste test everything before I just throw it in my mouth because I will literally have to spit it out. It hurts so bad on my tongue. She could tell on the phone because I couldn’t stop salivating. It was like gross.

I am trying to scrape it off(see photos) but at this point it feels intentional bc everyone told the chef no spicy. And when she opened it to me, try it I was specifically asked to try the cheese, so maybe everyone was in on it I...

Husband & I have been coming here for years. Hector came from a restaurant called, Playa Azul, which was a phenomenal place. Their nachos fajitas is a great go to menu item. We moved away in 2022, and yesterday was in Woodward & decided to stop in. Husband got the chimichanga, which he labeled basic. He said "it's difficult to mess up a chimi, but they did it". Their chips are lacking flavor & salt. Super skimpy on the queso.. they must have the world's smallest ladle back there, they don't even fill the little red bowl. Had to ask for more queso many times. The guacamole was like baby sh!t from a squirt bottle, definitely seemed store bought. It was really visually gross. Nachos fajitas was the only thing that saved the lunch.. minus those chips. We recalled our last visit was a few years back.. and remembered we weren't impressed back then.. so we've decided that was that...no more Hector's Amigos on our list of...

Man this place is amazing been over in this area for a couple years now working and this place is in my honest opinion the best Mexican food place in town. The cheese they bring out with chips is complimentary anywhere else it’s 5 bucks is pay for it if I had too it’s that good. The food there is amaze balls the fajitas are real good the number 8 with an extra enchilada with cheese is good covered in white cheese. Makes my mouth water thinking about it. Hector himself will always greet you when he’s there he’s super friendly. Really just a great place to eat in that town wish they had homemade waters there like mango but it’s not a deal breaker for me only other thing that would make the place even better is homemade tortillas de harina that’s flour so if you see this Héctor ponte aser tortillas a mano compa. So yea go there you won’t be...

Hector’s has become a favorite when we pass through Woodward. This time, I ordered the Molcajete Mexicano and Mrs. Flip Out ordered the pineapple chicken fajitas. Mrs. Flip Out really liked the pineapple chicken fajitas; they had refreshing flavor and was a delicious change from “the usual.” My entree was similar to a fajita meat combo, but it too was a delicious change from ordinary fajitas with the blend of spices, flavors, and presentation. If you’re a fan of a rich white queso, Hector’s has it on the menu and it’s great!

This was my first visit to Hector y Amigos. The building is a great vibe with historic elements well preserved while showcasing a Mexican flair in the artwork and furnishings. My server was very polite and mostly attentive. The atmosphere was busy but not loud. I was a bit disappointed in my meal. It looked wonderful, but it lacked any noticeable flavor. Several parts of the meal also felt like it was purchased in instead of made fresh — salsa, tortillas, and guacamole most notably.
