I grew up in Poland, and after I moved here, was raised in New Britain, CT which has a very large Polish community and some of the most authentic Polish food you can find in the United States outside cities like Chicago and New York. When I originally moved to Rhode Island, it was tough to find a place that lived up to my standards but Krakow deli exceeded my expectations.
Each time I visited, the staff was extremely friendly and more than accommodating if I had a special request. They really go out of their way to please their customers and make sure everything is to your liking. I love the fact I can come in an have a nice, friendly conversation in my native tongue which I unfortunately don't get to do that often. An example of their excellent customer service happened just recently after I told my sister about my positive experiences at this place. Shew visited the store with my nephew and made some purchases. The next time I went to Krakow Deli, about 2 weeks after my sister, I let them know that I was told she had a great experience there as well. The staff inquired who my sister was and when I began to describe her, they stopped me to say "Oh, you should have just said your sister is the girl with the adorable baby". It was great to hear that not only remembered her weeks after seeing her only once, but that they remembered she had my nephew with her.
Aside from the staff being great, the selection of food items here is great. While I cannot speak for the quality of their dine-in menu as I've never had it, I can say their deli options and even frozen food is great. During my last visit, I purchased a variety of food as I had some company over that wanted to taste polish food. I purchased some golombki with the red sauce, frozen pierogi (cabbage/mushroom and potato), frozen sour soup, frozen cabbage soup , frozen sour pickle soup, veal hot dogs, kielbasa, fresh bread and rolls.
Golombki with red sauce is my favorite food in the world and these were outstanding, almost meeting the very high bar set by my mom's home cooking. The pierogi were very nicely seasoned and tasted delicious after a quick fry in butter. The frozen soups were delicious as well, but there is a couple of very minor gripes I had. The sour soup, which is traditionally served with kielbasa and a hard boiled egg, was perfect but I feel it should include more kielbasa. The portion I purchased should normally serve 3 -4 people, but only had 3-4 bite-size pieces of kielbasa which I feel was not enough. It's not a big issue or a deal breaker since I had kielbasa of my own that I added in and it certainly wouldn't prevent me from buying the sour soup in the future. The only "problem" I had with the pickle soup was not with soup itself, just with the way it was prepared. Growing up, I was used to the sour pickles being sliced very thinly lengthwise giving your strands/ribbons of pickles when eating. In this instance, it seemed like the pickles were shredded giving the soup a bit of a "mushy" feel. It was still delicious, I simply prefer a different way to prepare it.
As far as the other food I purchased; everything was top notch. I grilled the kielbasa later that day and everyone loved it. I boiled the veal hot dogs for breakfast the next day and everyone commented on how good they were. The bread and the rolls were very fresh and their taste reached my high expectations.
I cannot wait to go back and I'm planning on visiting the store again this weekend. The friendliness of the staff and the quality of the food will make me a repeat customer for years to come. If you like Polish food and fresh, delicious deli meats I highly recommend...

I recently attended a Polish cooking class at Krawkow Deli in Woonsocket, Rhode Island and it was an absolutely fantastic experience! Not only did I learn how to make traditional pierogi from scratch, but the class was also infused with rich folklore and fascinating stories about the origins of each recipe.
The instructor was knowledgeable and engaging, making the process fun and easy to follow. As we kneaded dough and filled our dumplings with delicious ingredients, we were treated to captivating tales of Polish heritage, adding a unique cultural touch to the class.
The food itself was exceptional—fresh, flavorful, and plentiful! By the end, we had a feast of perfectly crafted pierogi, and the best part was getting to enjoy the fruits of our labor in a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
My motivation was to share with my grandson the wonderful food I grew up with from my grandmother, Katazyna. We now will make pierogi together.
If you’re looking for a hands-on cooking experience that blends history, storytelling, and amazing food, I highly recommend this class. It’s a wonderful way to immerse yourself in Polish cuisine...
Read moreMy husband is from Silesia, Poland. He knows Polish food. While we were thinking of moving to the USA from Germany we ended up moving to Woonsocket, RI. We hated it. My husband was shocked by the level of poverty and decay which is everywhere here. We only stayed for 6 months and we decided to move back to EU in Poland, then back to Berlin. As an American I was embarrassed and disappointed. While this time in Woonsocket was terrible, the one sliver of happiness, and relief was going to the Krakow Deli and Smokehouse once a week to get fresh sausage, pierogies, Tymbark, bygos, gałumbki, etc. It was an opportunity for my husband to speak in his native tongue as well. Lovely deli, lovely family who runs it, excellent market, just in a very sad part of the State. We will go back to RI soon hopefully as I am American and have family there (not Woonsocket) and will of course take a trip to the...
