This place is a great addition to Woonsocket, which is struggling big time in the food scene. It is simple and straight forward: traditional Mexican street fare at a reasonable price. There's nothing fancy - you can see the containers of Adobo powder and Lowery's seasoned salt sitting right there in the kitchen, but the food is tasty and without any flaws. They have chicken and marinated beef for the more American-oriented diner, but also cow's tongue and tripe for the more adventurous (the tongue is delicious by the way - tender and flavorful and properly cleaned).
There is no inside, only picnic tables. They offer American sodas as well as Mexican imports including Sidral Mundet and the Mexican-formula Coke (sugar instead of corn syrup). You can also call and place an order for pick-up. The person in the window/on the phone is always very nice and completely bilingual, so ordering is easy.
Everything I've had from them - corn tacos, flour tacos, quesadillas, tostadas, and burritos - has been excellent. They also have plates with rice and beans and apparently they sell special soups on the weekend, though I haven't tried any of these yet. Keep in mind that these seem to be authentic tacos, so they don't come in crispy shells with lots of sour cream. They are small and light, but very good. I usually get 4 tacos just for me (which comes to about $6).
Definitely one of the best places to just grab a bite to eat...
Read moreWent here over the weekend. They are your typical street taco. Nothing to write home about. If you've eaten 1 street taco you've eaten them all. Meat was not dry. Tacos came with 2 tortillas though they weren't overflowing to warrant the extra tortilla. The service was the biggest issue. We waited, which is fine. good food takes time, but we received our first order, ate it, placed a togo order and received that before another guest in our part received her 2 tacos she ordered. It wasn't overly busy. They also handed our to go order off to someone else, which was fine because we knew them, but they forgot to charge us. We proactively paid and they were like oh... oh ya! Forgot about that. We drove 70 miles to this place. I would not make the special trip again, but if I lived locally...
Read moreI have been coming here for years. I usually come 3 times a week..even more depending on if my boyfriend is hungry.
Best taco place ever. Taco bell, and any of those other taco places cant compete.
Service is quick and there are many options to choose from. This is a place for quick orders and huge portions. if you are ever in the area, stop by and get something.
For a shop with only the husband and wife running it, its the best with delicious foods. If you come looking to add or remove things to an order because you are picky, go away. Everything is fresh and each component of the food gives more to the dish. Not greasy, its fresh ingredients, thats the natural oils from the ingredients. I hope they...
