It was a Monday night in March when I went to Coccia House for my first AND LAST time. To begin, I'd like to emphasize the fact that I dined in at this restaurant on a Monday night. Needless to say, it was far from a full house. There was no reason for the horridly slow customer service I received from their servers. Not once did my server return to my table to ask how my food was, if I needed anything, or to refill my water glass. I had to ask an employee who I had noticed had been idly standing around for a water refill. How ridiculous! Next, I'd like to discuss the food quality itself. For some reason, Coccia House feels that it is appropriate to serve their customers a heaping bowl of iceberg lettuce with a single slice of tomato as a "House Salad." This is not a salad, Coccia House. This is a over-stuffed bowl of water leafs. Also important to emphasize here that the bowls were literally overflowing, leading to a difficulty in consumption and a general poor presentation of an already unappetizing food product. The entrees were alright in taste, but nothing to write home about. Definitely not worth the wretched service. Lastly, allow me to tell you that Coccia House does not accept any sort of credit and/or debit card payment. This displays a general lack of concern for customers, as none of their employees ever mentioned this information to us as we were dining, or even when I called to make a reservation (which they too do not accept) ahead of time. Furthermore, I did not see mention of this information anywhere throughout the restaurant or on their menu. This is not to say that the information is not visible somewhere, but it is not emphasized or made apparent to customers. They simply expected me to leave the restaurant, go to an ATM (which I might add was a mile down the road), and return to pay. Not accepting this form of payment highlights Coccia House's disconnect with their customers, many of which are students at the nearby College of Wooster (many young people do not carry cash and pay for the majority of goods/services with a debit or credit card). Also, it's just cheap. Really, Coccia House, you can't manage the lousy processing fee? Okay. Overall, I would NOT recommend this restaurant due to its lack of concern for its customers, as evidenced via their customer service and refusal of debit/credit card payment, and unimpressive...
Read moreOk..so I called this restaurant to order the potato gnocchi and the gentleman that answered the phone said he had no idea what I was talking about and went to ask a lady, in which I was able to hear the call because he didn't put me on hold. He asks what is is and if we have it, well the lady in the background says I've never heard of it before and didn't know the pronunciation either.. the gentleman comes back to the phone and says he wrote down my request because he cant find it , so I added meatballs to it and order a side of sauteed house vegetables. He says he has never heard of house vegetables and didn't know what I was talking about and turns and asks the lady again and she replies she didn't know either and didn't know they served house vegetables.. I'm fed up with the call at this point, so I asked to speak to a manager. A nice lady comes on the phone and I say, Maam how is it you have two workers, one of which is answering the phones, and doesn't know what the menu items are...? She replies saying the gentleman was new and his first day. I reply well that explains that, but why would you throw someone on the phone on their first day and not at least give them a menu so they can k NJ ow what customers are ordering, she didn't know how to respond.. and it also doesn't explain why the other young woman in the background didn't know anything either.. so she places my order and I drive to pick it up. I pick it up and leave without checking the food because I'm thinking everything would be on point because she placed my order. Well, I left my e cig so I had to drive back to pick it up, then go back to my room just to open my food bag and I only had the potato pasta NO MEATBALLS UGGGHHHHHHH. People don't listen to you when ordering sometimes. Why w ok old I want pasta with no meat!!!???? I was too tired to go back up there again, so I dealt with it. I looked at my veget5that were supposed to be sauteed and they weren't sauteed, they were boiled and water sat in the bowl causing them to stay soggy.. Ew! I do t waste food so I tried to eat it.. The gnocchi was so thick and no meat to pair with it, so I ended up just throwing it all away after trying to eat it like that. I will not be going back. I heard their pop izzard was better, but if they couldn't get this right I...
Read moreWonderful Italian Dinner. I had read (and called) to confirm that if we dine after 7 there wont be a crowd; there wasnt. We had a party of 5 and we were greeted immediately though had to wait a few minutes.
We were not sure what to expect with the mixed reviews but we were all happy with the evening! Also, this is a CASH only establishment, so be prepared.
Though Jeff was not a server, he was a very welcoming family member that continued to guide us thru the menu, provided sauces to try and answer questions.
Our table was always pleasantly bussed by a young man (also) named Jeff. Our server was also friendly and helpful.
The apps we ordered were the hot peppers and my husband was thrilled! He enjoyed not only the pepper but the finely ground sausage stuffing with a kick. We also ordered the cheese fries. Those were also really good.
For entrees, we ordered : 2 pizzas - these take an hour to cook at minimum. Amazing provoline cheese covers the entire pizza. It was wonderful!
Seafood feast pasta - the person that ordered this was disappointed.I think they were hoping it would have been in a creamy or marinara sauce of sorts vs a broth type over pasta. I think part of it was understanding the dish but most of the seafood was eaten and i ate the squid for him.
Gnocchi special with peas over the alfredo sauce. It was wonderful! I had some people try the gnocchi that have never had it in our group and they also enjoyed it. It wax cooked just right and mixed with the sauce and peas with prosciutto was a pleasant surprise.
Dessert - cannolis Our friend ate his and said it was amazing. We were too full to eat ours, so we got them to go.
We were all thrilled with our meals and...
