Annie's is a Clark/Worcester institution. Almost a decade ago, I was introduced to Annie's on the morning after an all-nighter studying. My friends and I were served a delicious, absurdly affordable meal, but when it came time to pay the bill we were caught cashless. Annie told us not to worry (yet), wrote down our names, and said she would personally call David Angel (Clark's president) if we did not come back to take care of our tab. Nine years later, my picture is on the wall, and even though I moved away from Worcester long ago, Annie and Megan still greet me by name when I have a chance to dine in their restaurant, which served as as a home away from home throughout my studies.
On to the food - the home fries are the best, the spicy hash is fantastic (and occasionally quite spicy), and the pancakes are huge (yes, even the baby cake). They make salsa too that you have to ask for, delicious on eggs. Weekend mornings the place is packed to the gills with hungover Clark students, weekday mornings the regulars take over. Great greasy-spoon diner food served by the huge hearts of Annie, Megan, and their staff of (typically) Clark students. Be sure to bring cash, and tip well! These folks work hard. And yes, I went back and paid my bill after that...
Read moreI saw they got 4.9 stars on google. No other restaurant I've seen has that high a rating, so I decided to check them out. It started out with me being greeted as soon as I walked in the door. They offered me a seat. They cleaned the table before i sat down. They they asked if I wanted anything besides water. And then brought me water. I didn't ask for it but I think it's great and I kinda wish every place did that. Excellent customer service and hospitality. Everyone was smiling. The chef was on fire. 🔥 They didn't have Eggs Irish on the menu but they immediately offered to custom make whatever I wanted. It was so delicious. The coffee is very good too. Very fast workers and fast service. Very overtly friendly. She gave me my change before she even took my $20 because I she saw it on the table lol. Very observant. I would come back here again if I'm ever in the area for breakfast. Last but not least, it was extremely...
Read moreI so much wanted this place to be 5 stars but the food dragged it down.
Western Omelette came out looking like a pancake. They must add batter to their egg mixture and maybe added extra for my omelette. Also saw the cook spraying the grill with something from an aerosol can, find grill prep that doesn't come from a factory. It's a shame because otherwise the omelette was good. Another food issue are the homefries - cooked well and nice texture but there is a spice added which took away from rather than added to the flavor.
My suggestion would be to always crack a few eggs anytime you cook an egg dish and let the grill make the homefries yummy rather than something from a jar.
On the plus side, great service,...
