Hotel Vernon — Restaurant in Worcester

Never busy, any time im there.. good if you like the dive bar scene. I know there a prohibition story behind the bar and a speak easy hidden away.somewhere in the basement. Apparently Worcester legend has it that certian people can check it out but it's not publicly accessible. Hotel vernon is also manages rooming houses above the bar... I heard you have to apply by meeting the owner in the bar and verbally asking for vacancies. There is no phone number or contact for renting. This is the diviest of dive bars, and the oldest in Worcester, clocking in at being built in 1901. Probably haunted. There's an old abandoned speakeasy in the basement that no one is allowed to see. Come to here to drink and not be bothered most days, or get into a stupid drunken arguments over nothing with random old dudes. This has been my favorite bar for many years! My dog and I used to walk down there almost daily! She loved the place so much that she was upset during the COVID shutdowns, and would still walk me down there and sit on the stoop waiting for me to open the door! The place has significantly changed since reopening, and is no longer the dive bar with cheap drinks and dollar drafts that it used to be.
