Mexicali Cantina Grill — Restaurant in Worcester

Food was just OK. The service was ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. I work in food and bev and understand that things can go wrong but this was plain old bad service and laziness. It took 15 minutes to be acknowledged by my server and the place was not busy at all. After 30+ minutes i finally got my queso appetizer but had to ask for chips to eat it which came about 10 minutes later. Queso was cold by then. My boyfriend went to the restroom and another server brought someone elses dish to our table by mistake. She ended up spilling it all over the seat and just left it. I had to call her back for a towel to clean his seat. She dropped the tortilla for the fajitas on the table and the other server simply picked it up, put it back in the steam dish and served it to the correct table (gross!). When the drinks arrived, one of the drinks was wrong, but was quickly fixed. When the entrees arrived, one included peppers despite asking for no peppers. One dish didnt have the queso and the other dish was missing sauce too. Finally my boyfriend spoke to the server about the food issues and her excuse was that the kitchen staff didnt speak english. Absolutely unacceptable that she didnt check what was being served before bringing it to the table. And to top it all off, they charge to put juice in my mixed alcohiolic drink. It was my friend's birthday so we decided to give this place a try. Customer service was very mediocre. We all noticed the waitress' demeanor & attitude changed right away. When I was just being a responsible parent & informing her of my child's severe gluten allergy. She brought our food and there wasn't no silverware provided, about 5 minutes passed, when she came around to attend another table nearby; I had to call her and ask for silverware and napkins. My friends & I weren't asked not once how our food was or if we needed anything. Ohhhh but wait!!! There's more!!! We requested for them to sing happy birthday to my friend. When they finally came to our table, only 2 pple came & sang happy birthday out of the whole crew. Additionally, they didn't bring the sombrero, we had to request it. Mind you, that night there were multiple birthdays being celebrated. We instantly noticed the change in staff's overall treatment when it came everyone else who's birthday was being celebrated. One of the waiters imprudently came and grabbed the sombrero off my friends head without first asking if she was all set. I gotta say, the food was delicious but the customer service & common courtesy, definitely needs a lot of help. My friends and I will not be returning here. We came to this place on a Monday evening assuming less crowd means better service but we were wrong. Bad: 1- they placed us with small baby near bar which was loud to my taste. I asked someone to move us to opposite side that looked more like family section but she kept saying “no” coz she wasn’t able to explain. She brought her colleague and we were moved right away. They should consider family with kid need more peace rather than drunken company. 2- our server had very little understanding of English. She wasn’t taking notes and tried to just memorize which ended up forgetting few things or wrong. 3- I asked someone to get my lemonade refilled and I got water with lemon on the side. 4- server NEVER came back to ask if we need anything. I had to chase her two times for things she missed 5- we asked for apple juice for our kid, they brought it 10-15 minutes later when food was being served. WTH 6- we asked for smaller silverware for our kid and they brought biggest one they had.
