My fiancé & I ate here last week on vacation. We were very disappointed in several things. 1) when we arrived there was a line of people blocking the door & made it to where you could barely walk inside. It was one large party that were waiting on their table. My fiancé tried to squeeze by them to get to the hostess stand and she had just stepped away. He asked the guy that was standing there if he could put our name down & he just looked at him clueless and said no. So my fiancé thought you didn't have to put a name down. It was extremely confusing and chaotic, no one seemed to know what to do or what was going on. He finally went back up when the hostess returned and she told him yes, he did have to put his name down. We had already been waiting 10-12 min at this point. We finally got seated and this was the second disappointment 2) our server was not trained. She said it was her first week there and they did not require her to memorize anything on the menu so most of the questions we asked in regards to food, she had no idea what the answer was. We found this really frustrating as there was a sauce included in the scallop dish we had never heard of and she just repeated back what the menu said verbatim when we asked what it was. My fiancé ended up ordering the scallops and hated the sauce, it was some kind of hoisin plum sauce that neither of us cared for. The waitress didn't offer to remake the dish without the sauce or any compensation for the lack of knowledge in helping us order something we would like. 3) I ordered a Diet Coke that came out completely flat. I told the waitress and she said she would fix the machine and get me another one. She brought out one that tasted the exact same. 4) THE BATHROOMS WERE HORRIFIC!!! This is no exaggeration. I would've rather used a port a potty at a construction site then use their restrooms again. My fiancé said the mens were just as nasty. The women's were flooding or had flooded, the floors were wet, trash cans were sitting on top of the back of the toilet, toilet paper everywhere, sink had no soap. It was absolutely disgusting. I'm giving two stars because the waitress was kind and it's not her fault that her boss would allow her to start a job without proper training. She was not setup for success and that falls on her superior, not her. Overall, j would not recommend this place, especially when there are so many other restaurants in the area to...
Read moreEight of us dined here for Valentine's Day. It was a first for all of us.
There are two rooms: On the left when you enter is a very nice room with a large bar and where the room is bright and welcoming. The room on the right is very casual with bar, lots of décor on the wood walls. Very bar-like atmosphere. Lots of fun. Both rooms had TV's on the walls.
We sat in the second room that some high tops.
I saw that they had a few dishes with crab meat, so I ordered a cup of cream of crab soup. I originally wanted a side salad to go with my scallops with a lemon risotto, but they don't have side salad, just entrée salad. The entrée salads are perfect for two people to share.
The soup was excellent. I'm very picky when it comes to crab, as I'm from Maryland. There wasn't much thickener (flour), so I was glad about that. The price was reasonable, $7.95 for a cup.
I had the sautéed scallops (quantity of 5 medium size) with a lemon-flavored risotto, fried sage, very think fried bacon, and pomegranate seeds in a white sauce. While the risotto was flavorful, it was a little on the dry side.
My husband had the fresh catch - grouper that was herb crusted, along with rice, a squash puree, herb butter, and basil microgreens. I had a bite. The fish was very good. My husband though there was too much on the plate as far as the puree goes.
Other items ordered, which my friends enjoyed: Carrot ginger soups, Caesar salads, seafood Alfredo, blackened salmon, grilled ribeye, flounder picatta, and crab cakes.
I got to try the crab cakes. No lump, just claw meat and some filler.
Great service by our waitress (I forgot her name).
Prices are on the high end, but we all enjoyed our dinner and time at King Neptune.
We will definitely come back. I want to try their shrimp and grits and other items on the menu. The room we dined in is...

My wife and I went into the King Neptune right at opening time on a Saturday afternoon. Having read the menu and the descriptions of the dishes, we had a certain expectation of getting some delicious seafood expertly prepared.
My wife ordered the flounder francacise which had fish, pasta, pesto and goat cheese - ingredients that you can already taste by just reading this review. What she got was bland. No flavor from the pesto, no flavor coming from the fish and only once could she detect anything like goat cheese. The food was not bad, but it was a big disappointment.
I ordered the $35 scallops plate. When it arrived in an iron skillet, the server was holding it without a towel or hot-plate holder. That should have been my first clue. The outside of the scallop was warm, but the inside was cold. I called the waiter over and told him that the scallops were cold and he looked at me clueless as to what this meant. I told him that scallops should NOT be served cold after being described as pan seared in the menu. He said ok and walked away. He did not offer to do anything to resolve the problem nor to call over a manager. I did not escalate the issue, but did not finish my scallops to say the least.
The server visibly avoided us for the rest of the meal, even though we did not make a big issue of any of the problems we had.
Overall the meal was close to $100 with drinks and we both left feeling very disappointed. Eventually, later that night we went out for another meal elsewhere, as neither of us wanted...
