I called the restaurant two weeks in advance to reserve a table for 15 people for my husband’s birthday dinner. When making the reservation I asked the woman on the phone about separate checks. She said getting separate checks would not be a problem. When our server took our order one of my friends said “us three will be on one bill” and the server said he could not do separate checks. I advised him that when making the reservation I asked about separate checks and was told it would not be a problem. The server said he would ring in each order by table as there were 4 tables put together and would be able to separate the checks by table. When it was time to pay the bill the server handed us a really long receipt and walked away. My husband had to get up from his seat to find the server to ask about separate checks. The server said he couldn’t do it but would go talk to his manager. He then comes back and said the manager said no to separate checks but they could do separate payments but they all had to be for the same amount. Confused I asked him what happened to ringing in the orders by table and he said my manager said we can’t do it and walked away to eat his meal with his coworkers. I was embarrassed and annoyed at this point because I picked the restaurant and put the dinner together. My husband had to find the server again and ask one last time if they could work with us on separating the checks. The server said he would ask his manager again and then comes back and tells us the manager said no. At this point why couldn’t the manager come out and talk to us? Terrible customer service! Seeing as though we weren’t getting any assistance from the server or manager one of our friends had to get a pen and calculator and manually add up what each person owed. Luckily people had cash or Venmo to pay for their portion of the bill. The food is good at this restaurant but I would not recommend it for large parties. Apparently their POS system does not allow separate checks which is mind boggling since they have no problem charging a supplemental fee. I also forgot to mention that the restaurant was not busy when we were having dinner so it would not have been an inconvenience for the manager to come talk to us and actually care about the people dining in the restaurant. Such a disappointing experience!
I cannot figure out how to reply to your response so I am updating my review with the requested information:
Date: December 30 Time: 9:00 pm Server: Daniel T Order #: 24040
I appreciate your response but it’s even more upsetting to learn that we could have had separate checks. That would have avoided the frustration and embarrassment. We spent a lot of money at your restaurant. Our bill was $487.22. This included a supplemental fee which should have been reduced because we paid $407 in cash. It also included a 20% gratuity which was fine until we had to manually add up the bill ourselves and chase the server down.
While eating dinner I enjoyed the food so much that I told my husband that Camino Real might be our new go to restaurant for Mexican food but then how the bill situation was handled and how the manager disregarded us left a bad taste in my mouth. I really hope you will look into this and address it with your staff. I would hate for other large parties to have the...
Read moreSo, I am my sister stopped in for a late lunch it's not a fast food place to eat and for good reason, the service was fast and the food was hot. A very friendly place I highly recommend it if you want good Mexican food. We sat down and order our drinks while munching on chips and salsa. Within minutes we ordered our plates and the food didn't take long. I am not sure how busy this place gets at any other time, but this is now my good too Mexican food place. My sister agreed and will be bringing her son and daughter-in-law and it's often hard to please my picky sister. And you get a LOT of food for the Price, Our total meal before tip was under $40.
It's not a tight place so you have room to move around the tables are big with plenty of room apparently they have live bands on the weekends. They are right on Fort St. before Eureka Rd. heading east. I should have taken pictures but didn't think about it until I got home as I am writing this review. I can't remember the name of the combo that I had but it contained skirt steak very tender and very flavorful, a tostada, and an enchilada, with refried beans, rice, and all the side fixings. The place is really clean and the table were really nice with a Horseshoe burned into the corners of the table. It was nice to hear Mexican music playing in the background or that could have been the videos which looked like some of the band(s) that may play there. And it has a bar in the middle. just all around good place to eat, plenty of options of good things to eat. I highly recommend definitely will be...
Read moreWe have been going here now since just after they opened. We really like how clean tasting the food always is - very fresh and delicious.
The other thing that we really appreciate about this restaurant is that the menu does offer more than the typical same five ingredients served fifteen different ways. They offer grilled foods and other dishes and regional Mexican specialties. The menu has a broad range of options to suit all tastes and budgets.
We have not dined in-house yet but we have been in to pick up the food. It always appears to be clean from what we have seen. The one drawback I can think of for the dine in aspect is that when the live mariachi group is playing, it can get quite loud and difficult to hear conversations. Case in point: a few of the times the person taking our carryout order had a little trouble hearing due to the live music, but still made sure she got the order correct.
The music may be more of an issue of you are looking for a quiet dinner. Otherwise it certainly adds to the festive atmosphere and it does not particularly bother me.
In our opinion the prices are very good for the quality of food that you get. I have paid much more for lesser quality in other places. That being said, this is not a super-cheap restaurant, but it is not going to put a dent in your pocketbook either.
If you want a broad choice of clean, good flavored, multi-regional Mexican food that will not break the bank, I highly recommend this place and suggest that you...
