What a magical evening we had tonight at The Brick House in Wyckoff, NJ. We gathered to celebrate our 13th wedding anniversary and a dear friend’s birthday, and I can confidently say that this charming venue made our special night unforgettable.
We indulged in the Sunday Family Menu, which perfectly suited the occasion with its inviting and casual ambiance. Here’s a glimpse of our delightful feast:
First Course: We started with a delicious Pasta for Two – we chose both the Rigatoni Amatriciana and the Penne ala Vodka, and it was heavenly.
Second Course: Next up was a fresh Bowl of House Salad for Two, bursting with flavors and a perfect complement to our meal.
Third Course: For the main event, we savored the Porterhouse Steak, cooked to absolute perfection (medium rare, of course!). Served with potatoes and vegetables, it was a true delight for the senses.
Fourth Course: To top it all off, we enjoyed a scrumptious slice of red velvet cake – what a sweet ending! We also sipped on a lovely bottle of Riesling that paired wonderfully with our dinner choices.
As an added treat, we couldn’t resist ordering two appetizers from the specials menu: the Asian Calamari and Grilled Octopus Salad. Both were cooked to perfection and added even more excitement to our dining experience.
The warmth of the service and the quality of the cuisine truly made our celebration feel special. If you’re looking for a place that combines fantastic food with a welcoming atmosphere, The Brick House is the perfect spot!

1/13/24 we went for my wife’s 50th birthday and it became memorable for all the wrong reasons.
We ordered pre dinner drinks. They were fine… but the empty glasses sat on the table the entire dinner. No one bothered to remove them (for over an hour).
The bread was good especially the one with melted parmesan but that became the highlight of the experience. The salad was a plate of lettuce with almost nothing else except one olive and two slices of radish (for the record, we are not a family of rabbits.)
The steaks were the worst I’ve ever had. They came out with the plastic indicators still in them. We all ordered medium rare and every steak was over cooked, big time. The meat was tough with no pink in the middle. My son couldn’t stop drinking water because of all the salt. You can’t taste any flavor in the meat at all. I’ve had better steaks at weddings.
When they asked how everything was I mentioned it was over cooked and they said I had to look more in the middle. When I got to the middle… it was no better and the waiter was long gone, never to return. The French fries were from a bag. 5 Guys have fresher fries.
As mentioned we were celebrating a life milestone and I told our waiter but the servers kept changing and there was no communication. When we ordered dessert there was no candle so we just quietly sang over a sad piece of blueberry cheesecake.
When leaving - the valet opened the door and walked away. Maybe I’m old fashion but most places help the ladies into the car and close the door.
All around, there was no level of detail or care. Take your business elsewhere. Perhaps Oceanos, The Saddle River Inn, Allendale Steakouse…...
Read moreNever been here, our 1st time. I brought my wife here for her Birthday.
This place used to be a farm house in the 1800's. It's classy, elegant and huge.
Our hostess was Angela, she's friendly and showed us to our table.
Our waiter was Edgar, a very charming, funny and outgoing fella. We enjoyed knowing him. He makes a fantastic Coconut Malibu.
We also met other superb staff: Anna Maria, Luis Miguel, Lenny & Rolando. These fine folks are cordial, amiable & professional. Rolando even sang the Happy Birthday song to my wife, he's highly talented, he has a strong baritone operatic voice.
For appetizer we ordered the Seafood Tower, which includes: Lobster Tails, Shrimps, Lumps of Crab Meat, Oysters & Clams. Be forewarned this tower is all about Cold Seafood.
We liked the Cocktail Shrimp with its sauce, the Oysters & Clams were good although it would have benefited with some Malt Vinegar sauce; the Lobster Tails and Lump Crab Meat were tasteless, I wish we had warm melted butter to dip the lobster & Crab.
Wife decided upon the Steak Au Pouvre medium rare with Escarole & Saffron rice. The steak was amazingly delectable, huge and tender. The rice was full of flavor, she enjoyed her Escarole as well.
I opted for the Cajun Delmonico Ribeye. Wow! This is one fine piece of meat. Mouthwatering, thick and yet tender steak, my side was a baked potato with cream & chives.
Edgar brought my wife a slice of rich & flavorful Keylime Pie. She loved it!
This would have been a perfect 5 star if it wasn't for the disappointing Seafood Tower. We would definitely be back to enjoy another wonderful dining experience, sans...
