I saw the sign for "50% off burritos Thursday!" and ordered a steak/bean on the phone. I always get burritos down the road from Quick Time, but I wanted to give this place a try. I got there, and was told that you only get 50% off on the second burrito if you buy 2... Ok, that's fine, maybe I didn't read the sign closely enough, and I didn't ask him for a total over the phone. I was expecting to pay $5, and paid $11.50, mostly my mistake.
Then, I ate my steak and bean burrito, which was small, bland, slimy, did not hold together, and had a small amount of gristly/tough steak to compliment the slimy beans and a few shreds of wet lettuce and a couple chunks of tomato. It quickly became slop (especially since no knife was provided, just a fork), and I was not impressed at all...
I paid $11.50 for a bland, small burrito, when I could get one for $9 at quick time burrito (1 mile away from Julian's) that is larger, includes rice, and comes with red sauce sauce that doesn't taste like canned Chili, they hold together, and they include a spoon/knife/fork, and they have faster call-ahead, along with a drive through. Quick time Burrito will remain my go-to for Mexican food in the area, and I suggest you...
Read moreWe just noticed Julian's moved to this spot on 32nd/Madison. A little late to the party but hit it up on their Thursday wet burriro BOGO 1/2 off. (Food prices were reasonable without the deal) Entered the clean dine in area, we were greeted and welcomed immediately even tho Donnie was serving another customer. Smiles from the kitchen window too. Donnie was super friendly and out going and happy to share a bit of his long family history. Of course we ordered wet burritos. Hubby got the typical beef, I ordered chicken with the white sauce and they were kind enough to accommodate my request for rice inside vs beans. We also got a 1/2 order of guacamole and chips served while we waited for our burritos. The guac was fresh and so good! The burritos came drenched in sauce and cheese and we're absolutely awesome. Loved both the beef and chicken. I actually especially loved the flavor of beef sauce but the chicken was delicious too! We left full but wanting more and told Donnie we'd see him next week! Beltline where? Bah! Can't wait to try more...
Read moreI ordered the Monday Special, chicken chunks. I got some breaded chicken breast that was lightly salted. The tostones on the side were really good, thick and soft slices of plantain. A little bit of hot sauce and ranch goes a long way with the chicken - otherwise it would be very plain.
I ate the tostones mostly with only tabasco sauce. I tried their salsa verde, and I was disappointed. It's not spicy, so it's kinda just like chunky water. Considering I only wanted to try their Monday Special ($10), I'm not disappointed with the general unseasoned nature of the dish. Next time I will get a proper meal here. Highly recommend you to check it out! It's a nice atmosphere with a little space filled with tables and chairs to eat at - feels like grabbing a meal from your aunt's house (all served...
