I recently had the pleasure of dining at StateHill and I have to say, it was an incredible experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with a cozy and intimate atmosphere that made me feel right at home. The service was top-notch, with attentive and friendly waitstaff who were always on hand to answer any questions or provide recommendations. Our waitress, Lara was extremely accommodating and sweet, with a delightful and bubbly personality. She was extremely knowledgeable about the entire menu, and was passionate about the recommendations she gave us. We took her word on many of the dishes she reccomended and wow let me tell you…. they did NOT disappoint. We will make sure to request her as our server for future visits.
But let's talk about the food. Oh my goodness, the food. Every dish was a masterpiece, with bold and vibrant flavors that danced across my taste buds. The ingredients were fresh and expertly prepared, with a focus on locally sourced and sustainable options that made me feel good about what I was eating. Whoever the chef is deserves some kind of award for the perfectly curated menu, all the dishes complemented each other absolutely phenomenally. You can tell the new management of this place is incredible, and pay attention to every detail of this place.
One of my favorite dishes was the scallops, which were perfectly cooked and served with a delicious sauce that complemented the delicate flavor of the scallops perfectly. The steak was another standout dish, cooked to perfection and served with a rich and flavorful sauce that left me wanting more.
But the real star of the show was the dessert. I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but I couldn't resist the raspberry donut cheesecake that was recommended by our waiter. It was absolutely divine, a perfect end to an already incredible meal.
Overall, I would highly recommend StateHill to anyone looking for a truly unforgettable dining experience. The food, service, and atmosphere are all top-notch, and you're sure to leave feeling satisfied and impressed. I normally NEVER write reviews, but for this place I absolutely had too. Berks County desperately needed a place like this, skip the boring go to spots in West Reading and absolutely give this place a try! Don't listen to the other reviews without giving this place a shot, we will without a...
Read more10/2023: Great food, great wine. They were out of several things I tried to order.. but everything we got was pretty good. I did, however, get sick from the meal I ordered. WAY too many onions in their tomato sauce. They should call it onion sauce.
05/2024: we decided to try again in hopes everything would be better. We came in and waited about 5 minutes watching a girl wrapping silverware. Then she finally came over and went to seat us at the bar area at a small high top. I can't sit on those comfortably unfortunately and it was really small for all of us, so we asked for a booth and were sat in super comfy chairs, but the table was low to the floor and we would have had to hunch over to eat. Once the server came by, we asked for a booth again and were escorted to a booth. I tried to order two things they were out of.. again. When we finally got our food, my soup had tons of hidden onions in it. No where did it say there were onions in the soup. We got fish tacos, there wasn't a whole lot of fish in them, tons of avocado though. We also got brussel sprouts and we were dunking the fish tacos in the cherry sauce from the brussel sprouts. Yyuuumm! I was eating more of the brussel sprouts with the cherry sauce, and bam! Hard painful crunch.. I think I got glass or hard plastic or something. Wow did that hurt, and funny enough I was just talking about how painful my tooth was being and had gone to the dentist for it just a few days prior and they grinded down the filling in hopes that was the issue... This activated the pain in the tooth again. Ugh. My sister's flatbread looked delicious, the French fries were pretty good too and sauce to dip them in awesome.
I can definitely say, if you like onions... Go to...
Read moreI'm giving this place One (1) Star because the host was nice. The waitress Maddy was the worst waitress I have experienced in a long long time. She was not attentive, she disappeared after we got our water. To the point where we were ready to leave but then she showed up to take our order. When the food finally did come. I ordered a Reuben, there was no thousand island dressing on this Reuben. So I asked for some, she explained that the restaurant did not have any Thousand Island dressing. And I said well then this is not a Reuben. My fiance ordered a pastrami sandwich that was served on marble bread but he asked for Rye. Not marbled if they had it which they did, because ,I had the non Reuben, Reuben. He did not get that. Then she disappears again at this point we have no silverware luckily my fiance spotted some on another table that was unoccupied. And he went and got that. I forgot to mention that we ordered an appetizer that was fried chicken sliders that appear to be fried in bad Grease meaning old and was super crunchy. Also the french fries that came with the meal, (the sandwiches), were the worst french fries you could imagine, they seem to be old and tasteless, so to wrap this up. Will we return, Absolutely Not! If you want a disappearing waitress go to State Hill, if you want bad food go to State Hill. The margarita was bad also not even served in a margarita glass.(We went to Applebee's for Margaritas afterwards,)The Yuengling Lager was good, it was on tap. Save your money and go elsewhere. So approximately 60 dollars later, Big Disappointment and felt Robbed. There are a lot of other places to go in that area, go elsewhere, don't go...
