Alebrije Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Wyomissing

Best Mexican food place in local area that I have found. "Guacamole Live!" is fantastic.

Let me explain the 3 star rating below but I will say up front food quality was A+, 5 stars.

Family of four. It was 6pm or so, restaurant was only at what appeared to be 50% capacity roughly so service should be good. Clean, nice seating, welcoming atmosphere, greeted promptly, seated and drink order taken swiftly along with the complimentary chips and salsa. So far I'm pleased. 5 stars at this point.

Then I paid for the cheese dip which requires chips and I also paid again for the Guacamole Live where they custom make your bowl of guacamole at your table fresh, which also requires lots of chips. I tipped the guacamole guy well yet we were left with what was leftover from the first salsa and chips to eat the cheese dip and guac. We were left sitting there waiting(with empty water glasses too) and I had to literally ask for more chips and water, twice.....

Where I'm from the customer should not even have to ask for more chips or water. The waitstaff should keep those coming especially if they have ordered several items only able to be eaten with said chips.....

Do not ask me if I want more water or chips, refill them before they get empty! If I am done I will let you know. Lost a star there, so 4 stars now.

It took nearly an hour to get our main course meal. They did have a couple large tables place orders at once, tried to give them benefit of the doubt..... but during that time I had to struggle to keep our chip bowl and drinks filled, so I find that really inconvenient. Then we got three out of four plates and 5 minutes later the fourth person's meal came. More sitting on our hands awkwardly as our food got cold waiting on the last plate..... Lost a star there..... So 3 stars.

Honestly I feel like we may have just had bad luck. I noticed several other tables got their food sake time we did who had only ordered 20 minutes before that or so. It was like the kitchen got overwhelmed and then a flood of food came out all at once. Had they kept our glasses and chips and salsa full it would have been less inconvenient. Got a giftcard here for christmas, went on new years eve for lunch. The appetizer of nachos (which came out before our drinks) was very promising and had me thinking it was gonna be some bangin mexican food... unfortunately not. very low tier mexican food and customer service at the wyomissing location.. all of the staff we could not understand because they spoke spanish, and wore masks although the mandate was lifted. i got mexican street tacos w pork and when it came out it had pineapple on it although wasnt listed on menu. the waitress did not know whether it belonged or not. then i got it remade and brought back out, it was microwaved and chewy and not by any means what i expected when seeing an authentic mexican restaurant. last but not least, the staff was kicking back relaxing on their phones and gossping right next to our table. definately not the experience i was hoping. i have another giftcard so will try another location not to waste and if experience is the same, we will not be returning. good luck ifyou go here and dont...

We've been coming to Alebrije's for years. The food was delicious. The reason for three stars was simply the service.

The waiter was very pleasant and our order was taken right away. The drinks and food came pretty quickly. He checked on us to make sure there were no issues with our order and to refill our drinks and then didn't stop back to our table for over 30 minutes. It wasn't that busy and we saw several waiters behind the bar. We wanted to order fried ice cream for dessert and we almost skipped it due to the long wait. Finally, we were able to order, but after the ice cream arrived, he again didn't check on us for another 20-30 minutes. We organized our table, grabbed our things, and at one point actually stood up for almost 5 minutes as we waited for our check. I was finally able to get his attention as he walked by our table and asked him for the bill, which he had ready. We paid and left. Total time was about 90 minutes.
