This past couple of weeks seems to have been my tour of fast-casual burger joints - including: Mooyah, The Habit, and now Wayback. I also draw comparative reference from Five Guys and Smashburger.
My first time to a Wayback. I went with the basic burger, and was pleased. Good texture. Juicy. Flavor also good. "their way" was the condiment collection I accepted, and it was also good. Onion rings were decent - I like the beer-batter approach, but these were not as crisp as I would've liked. I also opted for the BlueSky root beer - first time. Not bad.
Some constructive feedback. There were probably two customers there - during dinner time - and the staff were almost invisible. Why not use the 'downtime' to be cleaning tables, and to maintain a counter presence, or ensure that all of the customer touch points are solid. For example, one of the soft drink options was clearly running without syrup. Also, my associate was friendly, but I couldn't hear him. Speak to be understood. I had to ask for clarification several times. Smile. When the staff did appear, they were clearly looking to get back to whatever pressing business was happening in...
Read moreThis is the last time we’ll be ordering from Wayback. The first time we ate there was amazing, we thought we’d found our new go to burger place. Every time after that has been disappointing. Without fail they will always forget something or put something on a burger that wasn’t ordered, this time was particularly frustrating though, everyone’s food has something wrong. My burger had a tomato when I asked for no tomato, my husbands burger was absolutely covered in sauces and my sons chicken tenders meal had one solitary fry in it. It feels like a joke but this is the honest to god truth.
What I don’t get is how there was no one else in the restaurant besides myself and someone eating at a window seat, I don’t understand how so many parts of the meal were wrong when there was nothing else going on.
Lastly, our burger wraps were so saturated in sauce that they were ripped and falling apart when we opened the bag. Just all around disappointing. I used to tip really well, then I eventually realized it doesn’t matter since no matter how much I tipped my food would...
Read moreI love burgers, however I am really picky. I don't frequent tipicle fast food joints. Way Back Burger in my opinion is really good. I must say that this is the only location I have been to and I like it. Ok, so here we go... Everything I have tried there is great! The staff is great and friendly, but they are young. The food is always consistent. The prices are a little high, but totally worth it. Getting from your car to the front door can be a little tricky. It's in a strip mall and people can drive aggressive. Gotta Look Both Ways more than once while crossing. Napkins and condiments are always stocked. Restroom is ok. The one thing that bothers me is what they pay these people to work there. It is low. So I always tip them. They always appreciate it, as well. I am not a fan of corporate run places, but this is a...
