Look, I don’t like to be mean or unreasonable, and I understand things happen, but I’ve never had an experience at Los Mariachis like this, in all my years of coming there. I don’t want to be a jerk about a small business reinventing themselves and trying a new look, but something went very sideways with the Xenia location following the renovations. This place used to be great and was a place my wife and I went all the time. It had so much character and a fantastic menu. But last night, the first time we returned since you reopened, our experience was a major let-down. The chicken enchilada my wife ordered had no seasoning, the beef on my nacho plate was a sopping mess of grease, half of my meal was lettuce, and it took nearly an hour to get our food. The tables around us filled up after we’d ordered, and they all received their food promptly, 20-30 minutes before us. At one point, they brought out food that looked very similar to what we’d ordered, began setting it on our table, then as they were bringing the last of it out, they realized it was meant for the table next to us. The couple at that table finished eating before ours even arrived. I could’ve handled the wait, honestly, if I’d been made to feel like anything was being done to prioritize us after the mistake and delay, but people kept filtering through while we just sat there and waited longer. Our waiter returned to the table repeatedly to assure us our food was coming any moment, but that happened no less than 5 times over half an hour, and our food was nowhere to be seen. It took, at minimum, 45 minutes from the time we placed our order for one plate of nachos supreme, one chicken enchilada and one beef taco. I’m convinced he forgot to put in our order and then rushed it to compensate, forgetting to flavor almost all of it in the process. The only redeemable quality of our visit was the homemade hot sauce we received, but even with that, my wife wound up leaving behind the remainder of her food, as it was too bland to make worth boxing up and taking it with us. Finally, and I admit this is just a me thing, it doesn’t make me want to visit your establishment when I see a poorly made, blatant AI canvas wall hanging as a centerpiece in your restaurant when it’s so easy to have a local artist create you something original and unique. It doesn’t send a good message, it’s off-putting to an artist such as myself, and it only tells me that instead of supporting other small businesses and creators who would love to work with other locals, you would rather cut corners and save time, which I guess shouldn’t shock me after the rest of my visit. I’m sorry, but this was a bad...
Read moreThe large man at the checkout, who I suppose would be called the "host", lacks any hint of courtesy, politeness or customer oriented service. He gives off an arrogant, condescending vibe in person and on the phone. And the last time I placed a carry out order, they didn't include the guacamole that I ordered but was charged for, so I informed him of this on my most recent order. He then proceeded to argue with me about it, saying I should have told them the same day because otherwise people could claim anything they want. The lack of logic in this statement didn't seem to be an issue for him. Even though he felt it just to argue with a repeat customer over a $1.50 cup of guacamole, he obliged and said he would give us the guacamole complimentary this time... We did receive said guacamole, and upon returning home realized he charged us for it as an "open food item" to disguise that it was actually a charge for that item. I don't suppose I need to mention how dishonest, disingenuous, and inhospitable this was. Nevertheless, he can keep his $1.50, and I will keep all the hundreds that I would have otherwise spent there in the future for a more deserving restaurant with a host that doesn't scowl me...
Read moreWish I could give no stars. I have never been treated rudely for simply attempting to order food. At a restaurant.
I came in to order a breakfast burrito. The large, dark haired man at the counter informed me it wasn't breakfast time. And that they had none. Ok. No problem. I called the person I was ordering for, and was discussing our order. No one was in line. I hadn't finished placing the order, was in the middle of still ordering, when he loudly sighed and stated that "he already put my order in, and now he has to go to the back to tell them". He seemed very distressed. He seemed annoyed that I asked questions about the menu. Basic ones. I hadn't completed my order. A more pleasant woman came to the counter and I told her that I wasn't sure what the attitude was for considering that he didn't bother to confirm that I was finished - I was on the phone - which she ignored and completed my order. He brought me my food. It was ironic that he had no idea if I paid for it or not. (I did) Bland, mediocre midwest "Mexican". Not worth it in...
