Dickey's Barbecue Pit — Restaurant in Yakima

BBQ is really tough to do as a quick service restaurant. I want perfectly done meat, but I also want it done now. Dickey's does a pretty good job meeting both convenience and taste! I had gone to a Dickies several years ago in a different city, this one had a pretty similar contemporary western feel! The staff was friendly and the service was quick since we beat the lunch rush. I ordered the Westerner sandwich ($8.75), which comes with two meats. I opted for brisket and the Honey smoked ham. Both turned out to be pretty good choices...... next time I'd probably try something different than the brisket though. For an additional $3.50 you can add two sides. I did this and ordered waffle iron fries and mac and cheese. Both were good but I feel like the portions were a bit slim for the price and probably wasn't worth it. A drink will also run you a couple more bucks depending on what size you get. As you can see, this can start getting pricey for lunch. There is a daily deal that changes every day which is $8.99 and includes a drink.

After you order your food you can get three different types of BBQ sauce, sweet, regular, and spicy. I'm a big fan of the spicy BBQ sauce. It's not overly spicy but it does have a little kick.

The real surprise the star of the show was the free self serve ice cream at the end of dinner! It's nothing too fancy, but it was a great ending...

I ordered a three meat plate. I mean…just look at the pictures. I will never order from this place again. This is pitiful. Do they honestly think this pitiful plate is worth $30? Run from this place. Not only is the food poor quality, the portion size is ridiculously small. I’ve ordered a lot of barbecue in my life but this is the worst place I have ever ordered from. Order from Famous Dave’s, their food is superior quality and the portion size fits the price. I wanted to try out a new barbecue place and decided to give Dickey’s a shot, and this place is absolute trash. Look at those tiny pieces of brisket. There are two bites there. The food is ice cold. I honestly don’t know how this place is in business. I showed someone I work with my food and they were shocked at this pathetic plate as well. It’s like the food was sitting out all day. They were too lazy to make fresh food, and threw together scraps. Disgusting. You notice all the 1star negative reviews start rolling in once new owners took over the restaurant. They are cutting portion sizes, keeping prices the same, and selling lower quality food. I hope this clown idea he has to boost profits backfires, because my food was so bad door dash gave me a 100% refund, and I’ll never eat there again. Good business strategy. Dickey's is always a decent "fast food" bbq place, but my goodness! I had issues 3 times in a row there (this is over probably a year as we don't eat there often). Note I typically order online. 1- Their printer was out of paper, so they didn't get my order. I had to wait in store... whatever... it was fine. 2-They just didn't SEE the order come through, so I waited again. Kinda frustrating because it was the second time. 3- Placed order online, CALLED to make sure they received it. They did. Let me know they were out of one of the items. Made my substitution. Got there and my order was about ready (YAE). Had a conversation with the employee to make sure our extra sauces were in there and I was on my way home. Get home, we were missing an item. Called the store and he answered, "Your fries are right here if you want to come back." I asked if they could deliver them since I am 20+ minutes away but they were unable to. He said if he was working the next time I ordered, I could get a free fry. Let him know that since this was the third order in a row with an issue, I wasn't sure I would be back.

All 3 of the times I have been there on the times noted above, I was the ONLY customer in there, so it isn't like they are busy and overwhelmed.

Super bummed because my family occasionally likes...
