On 10/21/21 I called ahead to see if there was inside dining. I could not understand the woman/owner/teller answering the phone so I requested for her to repeat herself. She became enraged that I couldn’t understand her and started yelling at me “YES!!! YES!!! and then hung up on me. I thought she must be having a bad day and didn’t think much of it.
My elderly Mother and I went to have dinner the same evening in which our experience was horrible to say the least of how this women behaved and treated us in front of other customers. It all started when I simply asked to move to another table so that my Mother could see the documents she wanted to read.
The women began asking us why we wanted to move in which I told her. She then told us we had not even paid for our meal and we had been there too long already as she has customers coming in while pointing at the other 6 people seated back to back in the booths on the south side of the restaurant. I asked her if she wanted us to leave and she said “YES!” she needs the room for other customers and repeated we had been there too long.
We had never been treated with such disrespect in any restaurant in our local area let alone be asked to leave cause we were there too long (10mins waiting to order, 15 mins waiting for order food and 20mins to eat) No one should be treated in this manner especially when your a paying customer who had been yelled at earlier for asking a simple question over the phone. My Morher and I will never go back to dine in this restaurant and we have shared our experience with others to let them know how the “Great Shanghai” owner treats its customers. We clearly learned that evening that “Shanghai” is not that ...
Read moreIt’s been several years since we visited this restaurant (pre Covid). At At that time our experience was so-so at best. The food was bland and the wait staff was an older lady with a foul attitude. Tonight 5 of us revisited The restaurant and we won’t be back. They gave us a booth for 5 people and it was a little tight. We asked for a larger table and was told NO, you sit here. The booth was close to the register/telephone area and the same older lady from several years ago was talking and shouting to phone customers so loud it was hard for us to converse. All in all the food was flavorless And unseasoned. My wife ordered the Special Chicken Chow Mein. The serving was large. (No complaints there but there was no pieces of chicken in the chow mein. There were a lot of pieces of limp chicken skin mixed throughout the entree’ but no chicken to speak of. After bringing this to the attention of our server, she didn’t say anything and called over the loud older woman to Our booth and she told us there was no skin in the dish and it was chicken. My wife had all the limp skin with visible fat globules piled up and said that was not pieces of chicken but skin. The “Dragon Lady” argued with us and shouted so loudly you could hear her all over the restaurant saying “that is chicken not skin”. We showed her the skin and she repeated her claim and walked away. We received the check (all 4 orders included on one check) and deciphered who had what and we paid without leaving a tip. None of us will be back. the Great Shanghai Restaurant is...
Read moreI had been here before with my husband not long after they opened. The service was decent and the food was good. Fast forward to today. We weren't even seated for a minute before we got up and walked out. The owner's elementary school age daughter had her toys and coloring books spread out on the floor where people walk go get to the booths. People could have very easily slipped and or tripped on these items and fall. After we sat down, she proceeded to rise a scooter around and around the booths where people are sitting and eating. The aisles in-between the booths were a bit narrow, so she was rather close to the table tops and the diners. She was also quite loud and would holler as she rode by. I thought she was gonna crash into our table on her second ride around of the booths. My husband and I looked at each other, shook our heads and left. We didn't even say a word. Just got up and walked out. That is some of the worst behavior I have ever put up with in a sit down restaurant. I have no desire to put up with someone's child riding a scooter and yelling around my table while trying to eat. Absolutely despicable. On top of that, when we walked in, the hostess didn't even seat us. She just handed us some menus told us to pick a booth. I will not being go back any time soon, if ever. I'm greatly disappointed. If I could leave zero...
