After a great dinner at Kevin’s Seafood in Yarmouth on Cape Cod, I had a hankering for something sweet. . It is always challenging to pull out into Route 28 traffic when you want to make a left turn. It is especially challenging during our short, two-month very high season in July and August. However, our skilled driver was able to do so without endangering life or limb. As a reward for their high skill and perfect execution, I slyly recommended we immediately pull right into the Dairy Queen (DQ), which is almost directly across the highway from Kevin’s. . While enjoying my no sugar added Dilly Bar that cost $1.99 plus tax, I took to talking with Kate who was making the goodies behind the glass freezer doors in the customer area of the store look even better. The freezer cases confront customers with all kinds of potential yummy impulse buys while standing in line to order. Kate's a four-year DQ veteran and told me she'd learned to decorate cakes for DQ through observation and on-the-job training. She is a very nice lady and a very industrious worker. I would pay her more if I were her boss. . I spoke briefly with the store manager who told me corporate headquarters sends them quotes for the sign out front but that for the most part, the owner comes up with their own messages. Today's was not that great in my opinion, so it's not repeated here. However, I always throw an eye this way when I am driving by as some of them are hilarious. . Thank you, Kate and other out-front employees for great service; thank you, manager, for managing this iconic operation; and thank you DQ, for stocking my Dilly Bar, the ONLY no sugar added item you sell. . It would be nice to see you at this DQ the next time I cannot resist the call of the Dilly Bar:...
Read moreI asked for a Blizzard. The Diary Queen commercial advertisement states their Blizzard are so thick that they do not fall out the cup; that is a Lie and false advertisement. I asked the young lady why my Blizzard was liquidized? She told me it is because of the heat? What does the heat have to do with ice-cream if it prepared correctly? She gave me such a nasty attitude. I ask these questions because I have to be careful about what is given to me. I kindly asked for the supervisor and explained the issue. She apologized and ask me Why the drink was watery? I said ask your staff that is how she gave it to me. Then I find out that the machine was out of service and she gave me a product from the machine that had ice-cream in it. I could have made someone sick. I learned my lesson. I make my own with plant-based milk. I would never make a recommendation for anyone to visit Dairy Queen! I tell people of the top; I am not a fan of this establishment. If they ask; then I have to be honest and then it's up to that individual to make their own decisions. What may not be good for me; may be a treasure for another. I transparent and...
Read moreWhile a piping warm hot dog on a steamed bun with potato chips, with or without chili, will never be deemed fine dining, most folks occasionally enjoy it. And after a recent visit with my wife - and with the chili topping, my feeling is, "Heck, that was excellent!" Of course, the clean setting and awesome Elsie behind the counter taking orders -plus meeting Teddy, the affable owner, what's not to love? And, o yes, there's more: because my wife and I also shared their ginormous banana split; here, soft ice cream meets enough hot fudge (or caramel), mini-pineapple wedges and strawberries with whipped cream to wake up any famished swimmer, tired worker or sleepy taste bud. In short, this site does DQ proud! Perhaps the next time you crave friendly service, smooth ice cream in various styles (also in take-home popsicles and cakes in the freezer case!), saunter in. This place makes it...
