First stop into the Cape today EAGER for a lobster roll. Sam’s was known as a great establishment (not sure when, definitely not today) so we checked it out as it was close to our stay.

Place was empty, whatever it’s late, September 13th. Off peak. Only patrons were actual skeletons. No problem either.

To the food…

Jumbo Lobster Roll- $35. - lots of lobster. Great buttered bun. Pretty much ends there. Zero flavor. Like no trace of seasoning. No hint of lemon. No salt, no nothing. Tasted like bread and lobster. Not bad you might think, but like NO SALT? The most important seasoning there is? 2.1/10. Lots of lobster but what’s the point when there’s no flavor. A hefty Pinch of salt, minimally, makes this rather simplistic lobster roll, a simplified delicacy. Not today it wasn’t.

Fried Clams/Calamari- ZERO FLAVOR. ZERO TEXTURE. Almost “soft fried”. Seafood was fresh obv. That’s one thing. BUT zero technique in preparation. Like, taken out of the fryer 2min too soon, OR oil wasn’t hot enough (bad technique used to make fry oil last longer). Whichever it was, created flavorless, crisp-less, soggy fried seafood. Paired with French fries which oh yea, HAD NO SEASONING.

I’m not sure if they even have salt on premises to defrost the pavement in the winter at this point.

Sam’s might have been good at one point in time, but that could have been a long time ago….

Overall- 1.8/10- the good news is, for my stay on the cape, it quite literally is ONLY UP FROM HERE! I don’t see how it could get worse than this. Not even joking. Would wager you can find a more flavorful lobster roll at the local...

Genuinely taken aback by the manager’s (possibly owner’s, which is frightening honestly) terrible customer service. Absolutely never coming back, we were very patient and polite when confronting their mistake (they charged us twice and gave us 2 of the same order), and were met with doubt and hostility, right off the bat. Don’t go here unless you wanna wait over 45 minutes for takeout, received a screw up order, and then be berated over the phone when you call to complain. Received half refund, no complimentary service either. Food wasn’t even worth it :(

Edit: the review they posted responding to Brooke Williams (my friend that was present) was full of lies. We NEVER asked for a full refund, NOR confirmed our order with the cashier. You should have offered complimentary service after aggressively doubting your websites mistake. It’s common sense, you should have called to confirm. Another fun mention is when we returned to drop off the duplicate order and THE MANAGER LITERALLY DUCKED BEHIND THE COUNTER to avoid dealing with his unprofessionalism over the phone. As an experienced (in my eight year) hostess dealing with takeout, i would never treat a customer with such disrespect, even without fully understanding the situation. With peace and love there’s no reason to lie, do better!! Your family used to be cooler, now they’re stingey and rude (as a customer for...

I'm giving 2 stars, not because the food wasn't good, it was the service we were not really happy with. There was a line out the door which was to be expected since this is the summer season and it was a peak time for dinner. The upside though is the line moved pretty quickly and we placed our order and were given a pager to notify us when to come pick it up. We easily found a table outside and waited patiently. After 30 mins we were starting to wonder where the food was. After 40 mins the girl who took our order came out to check our pager number and told us it wasn't working and that our food was ready. It must have been sitting for a while because it was cold but we were now starving so rather than ask for a new order or to heat it we decided to just eat it as is. It was good and probably would have been excellent if it were still hot when we got it. What doesn't make sense is why it took so long for them to come find us. Not having been there before and given the volume of customers we assumed that the wait time for the food was normal. We were also not offered any compensation for our cold dinner which was disappointing. We may give them another try so hopefully we will have a better experience, but next time I won't rely on the pager to alert me to when the...

First time here, went with my son, got a kids hotdog meal with fries and fruit snacks, lobster bisque, crab cakes & a stuffed quahog. So, the place was empty, and the guy at the register was difficult to understand. Hot dog and fries were fine, they forgot to give the fruit snacks. There was a strange dipping suace served with the crab cakes, which turned out to be lobster bisque. At best, it was a warm, creamy indistinguishable remoulade, lacking in zest and flavor. (A shell in my cup of it) The crab cakes were store bought, but fine as well. The stuffed quahog was good, most likely store bought as well. Verdict: $35 for mediocre food. PASS.

We come back fairly often and this time we had one of the family members who is dealing with dietary restrictions. The staff went out of their way to come up with a meal that I was told was delicious. Seafood Sams is a chain, but don't let that stop you from eating there because the seafood is great. I had the lobster roll. It was chock full of lobster, had to use a fork to eat all the lobster on top of the roll! Even the roll itself was surprisingly tasty and toasted and I wasn't the only one who noticed as one of my dining companions made the same comment. Decent coleslaw. Unsweetened ice tea tasted like real brewed tea.

Seafood Sam's is a must have any time I'm on the Cape. Their fried seafood items are lightly coated and the breading isn't heavy. Let's ask the natural flavors come through. I had the fried oyster lunch plate. Hubby had broiled swordfish with a side item upgrade to onion rings. We also shared a bowl of lobster bisque. It is so luxurious and creamy with nice bits of lobster meat. And don't forget the oyster crackers! They have beer wine and hard seltzer selections as well as self serve soda. I could eat here everyday of vacation no problem. Local or tourist you can't go wrong eating here.
