I recently stayed at the Ann Arbor Marriott Ypsilanti at Eagle Crest and wanted to share my thoughts on the experience. The room itself was spacious, clean, and provided a comfortable environment. However, certain design aspects left me with mixed feelings.
Positives included the room's cleanliness and ample space. Despite this, the placement of the desk in front of the wall-mounted TV was less than ideal. The glass-topped desk made using a mouse impractical without a pad, an item most travelers don't carry. Reconsidering the desk placement and surface material could significantly improve the workspace usability.
A notable downside was the absence of expected amenities. No Business Center, printing facilities, limited restaurant hours, a crowded bar area, and the lack of a pool, hot tub, jacuzzi, bath, or microwave, along with only small stand-up showers, were disappointing. Additionally, I encountered issues with the phone and thermostat during my stay, impacting effective communication and room comfort.
During my stay, I also visited the hotel's restaurant/bar area for lunch. I ordered the soup and salad, but my experience was less than satisfactory. After waiting for about an hour, the young man brought out my food. Unfortunately, the soup was at room temperature or even cold, and to my surprise, he hadn't provided a fork for my salad.
Attempting to eat the salad without a fork proved challenging, particularly when dealing with ingredients like cucumbers. After a few minutes of struggling, I decided to take matters into my own hands--quite literally. I got up and roamed throughout the hotel to locate a microwave and a fork. After heating up the soup and finally finding a fork, I returned to my seat to resume my meal.
To add to the dining experience, the young man approached me and asked if everything was okay. It became apparent that he had overlooked the crucial detail of providing utensils for my meal. While I appreciated the check-in, it highlighted a lapse in service where basic necessities like a fork were missed.
This dining incident, coupled with the other aspects of my stay, contributed to my overall assessment of the hotel experience. I hope this additional information is helpful in conveying a comprehensive picture of my stay at the Ann Arbor Marriott Ypsilanti at Eagle Crest.
On a positive note, I must highlight the exceptional service provided by the two young Concierge Lounge staff members. They went above and beyond to ensure a delightful experience, demonstrating a commitment to guest satisfaction. Their efforts stood out as a shining example of outstanding hospitality.
Despite the challenges I encountered during my stay, the dedication and exemplary service from the Concierge Lounge staff were a notable bright spot. Their willingness to go the extra mile contributed positively to my overall impression of the hotel, showcasing a level of service that deserves recognition.
In the midst of the mixed aspects of my stay, the commendable service from the Concierge Lounge staff adds a valuable layer to the overall narrative. I appreciate the genuine efforts made by these individuals to enhance my experience at the Ann Arbor Marriott Ypsilanti at Eagle Crest.
The staff, while friendly and accommodating, seemed to apologize excessively. While I appreciate their responsiveness, it would be more beneficial if they could address the root causes of issues rather than repeatedly apologizing.
Considering the overall experience and the mentioned drawbacks, I find myself hesitant to choose this hotel for future stays. While the room's positive aspects and the friendly staff are commendable, the design issues, the absence of expected amenities, coupled with the excessive apologies, and the technical issues with the phone and thermostat have influenced my decision. Unfortunately, I would not opt to stay here again, especially for an extended...
Read moreWhen we came in search of a venue for our event, the initial sales woman (Kristen) we had contact with was seemingly unwilling to be at all flexible to our initial desires and concerns. We felt as though they were looking at us as a prospective client that wouldn’t be spending enough money that made it worth their time to go the extra mile. We, however, conceded to these desires since the property itself held sentiment to us and decided to book hoping the process would become smoother going forward. We then met Lisa, although very friendly, the process going forward was extremely disorganized and chaotic. We had very few meetings, as most communication was via email, but when we did we found it very redundant explaining the same things over and over to her to catch the mistakes in her notes. We had concerns about food quality during our tasting, that we were assured would be rectified before the event. The day of breakfast and lunch timelines were more than an hour off, quality was subpar. Service struggled. The rooming situations had not been properly documented leaving the bridal parties having to flip rooms in the middle of getting ready for the ceremony. Our hired wedding coordinator was unable to get in contact with Lisa the entire day. Lisa made contact with the bride as she’s about to enter the room to walk down the aisle asking questions about food. To which the bride was unsure and couldn’t accurately answer at that time. But unfortunately Lisa could not be found again after the ceremony. Not only were those initial concerns from the tasting not rectified, but there were multiple, additional food quality issues that came about the night of. This included cold food, tough meat, raw burgers and uncooked grilled cheese. The coffee station was cold the entirety of the event. Service was repugnant, not even remotely close to achieving brand standard. We actually had guests leave early out of pure frustration with the service. The worst of it? Servers were unable to properly identify alcohol vs sparkling juice and improperly served a slew of guests. This unfortunately included children. Additionally we had asked if we could do a balloon drop, we were told that we could have one but they would have to set up and we would be charged a fee for that. That would have been fine, except they failed to properly secure the net causing the entire thing to fall on guests in the middle of the dance floor. Even at the end of the night, the bride and groom asked for help from a banquet supervisor getting belongings and things to their room and were told it’s not their job. The next morning, some guests informed us that the housekeepers were walking into their rooms at 9am when checkout wasn’t until 11am. Including those with late checkout and/or privacy signs on the door. We held a meeting that week following the event with Lisa and the DOS, Jen to discuss our frustrations and concerns. We were met with instant excuses before a single apology was made. We listened while blame was placed on our coordinator and even us as the bride and groom for having ran behind. This only further illustrated the property staff’s lack of flexibility for us in this type of event (because I’m not sure of a single wedding that has gone precisely to plan). We were looking for a common ground in rectifying such negligence. Sadly, this did not happen. Instead, we were told we should be happy we weren’t being charged for a “massive cleanup” from our event with unwillingness to detail what exactly that was. We feel there has been zero accountability. Disheartening and disappointing doesn’t even begin to describe the shadow casted over a day that is supposed to have been one of the most special days...
Read moreI can't say enough about the experience that my mom and I had during a recent visit to this resort hotel to celebrate her 75th birthday. The staff went over and beyond to make sure that it was the most amazing getaway that we will cherish for years to come.
I spoke to several staff members in the weeks leading up to our arrival and everyone was so accommodating, personable and professional. I explained how important this occasion was, by it being a milestone birthday celebration for my mom, and that I needed everything to be absolutely perfect for her upon arrival.
I must say that they completely rolled out the red carpet. There was wine and flowers awaiting her in the room and she was presented with some birthday cake that was compliments of the manager after we settled in.
Being a former housekeeping manager, my mom is very particular about cleanliness. The housekeeping manager made sure that everything was spotless. As soon as we arrived, she called to ensure that everything was sufficient.
Because we only stay at 3 and 4 star hotels and are perfectionists by nature, we can be very critical. It is difficult to impress us, but we were highly impressed with this establishment. You could tell that every area throughout the hotel was very well maintained.
The beauty and warmth of this resort-hotel super exceeded our expectations. From the moment we walked in, we were in awe.
Every staff member wore masks, kept a safe distance and every possible safety protocol had been implemented per Covid-19 guidelines.
I specifically requested accommodations on a floor with the newest renovated rooms and a lake view.
It is an understatement to say that the view from our window of the perfectly manicured golf course and pristine lake was absolutely spectacular.
We were also extremely pleased with how spacious the rooms are and the amenities. There was plenty of space between the two queen size beds, plus a desk, separate round table and chair, and a comfortable chaise lounge chair, which was so relaxing.
We really appreciated having access to HBO, Showtime, YouTube & Netflix.
My mom particularly enjoyed the custom shower head in the bathroom, which she said was like getting a massage each time.
She has been to many hotels over the years, especially in the Las Vegas area, but says that none compared to this one.
They truly helped me to fulfill my goal of blessing her with the best birthday surprise get away to date.
Thank you again to the hotel manager and magnificent staff who took such exceptional care of us. Please don't ever reduce your level of hospitality and cleanliness. Please know that you are appreciated and we will definitely be back. We have already begun to refer others by sharing our experience. Until next time, may you all be...
