I was surprised when I arrived that there is an entrance fee! $3/day, but there was no one at the booth, so I didn't/couldn't pay (I arrived after 7pm, I don't know if it's normal they don't staff the booth after a certain time or if it was a fluke).
I see on the satellite map view that it looks like there is a smaller parking lot off of Grove that probably doesn't charge, and the trails connect, so you could get around the fee that way (it's a small parking lot though so it might fill up).
The bathrooms are spidery prison toilets... would not be pleased if I actually paid to come here.
You can hear road noise from I-94 in pretty much the whole park, but in the section closest to the road, it is so loud that it would actually be hard to have a normal conversation.
The accessibility isn't great either, only a portion of the walking trail is paved, and some of that needs resurfacing. There are several steeply curved bridges and also a kind of switchback portion of the trail which would all be difficult for people with less mobility.
I probably won't come back to this park, if I did, I would check the booth and if it was manned I would try the Grove side because I definitely don't think it was a nice enough...
Read moreThis park is located on the edge of Ford lake with mostly paved/boardwalk style trail. The path down to the boardwalk is winding and steep. The main trail is circular and goes around the shore of the lake. Nice board walk over the bay, with an observation tower at the end. The rest of the loop is a series of pretty arched bridges connecting a sequence of narrow islands which adds beauty to this park. There is a lot of elevation with variety of up and downhill sections which allows for a great workout.
Park amenities include shelters, kids play structure, playground, restrooms, bridges, plenty of benches, picnic areas, observation tower and stretching / exercise stations along the way. Lots of scenery and wild life - swans, cranes, geese, storks, ducks and willow trees.
The morning walks are refreshing with a nice breeze around the lake with a distinct scenery. This is my favorite trail and I looped around most of my summer weekend mornings here. I absolutely loved watching the Sunrise and enjoyed clicking lot of pictures here. I am very much connected to this park as it has seen different phases of me. Great place to enjoy some natural beauty !! It’s closed during winters, can't wait to go back once spring...
Read moreThe best part of this park is the peaceful boardwalk through the water. This offers an excellent place to feed the ducks/geese because they stay in the water as you toss your bread from a safe distance on the boardwalk. We almost always see turtles, the fish sometimes jump out of the water, once we saw an otter, and Spring 2013 the Swans nested right next to the boardwalk giving a fascinating view of their eggs.
At the beginning of the trail are bathrooms with running water and an old playground structure which includes a slide, monkey bars, and something to climb. This is adequate since the real attraction is the nature and...
