YUBA CITY, CA, Probably the best Mexican restaurant in the area. Come and dine here if you enjoy great ambiance, background music, and friendly service. It also helps to make great Mexican food. In this photo, for example, I orderd a huge Texas burito--i ordered it Chile verde style. Oh my gosh!...combine chili verde and and a huge burrito.....you have nothing but deliciousness. Are you getting the idea yet. And just think, this is only one menu item. The chips and salsa are good and the drinks kept filled. My husband drools over the chicken enchiladas. Every thing is always clean, the restaurant spacious, and there's plenty of free parking. UPDATE: 12-02-18: Lunch at El Zarape, was again wonderful! I wanted to add that the salsa is a little spicy for those people who don't care for excessively spicy food. I love it, though. And, because I love green chopped onions and sour cream I added those as extra sides for my enchilada. The waittress was friendly and didn't mind bringing me the sides after I had my lunch on the table. She was also amenable to bringing my husband extra drinks and kept his soda filled up. I say this because it just reinforces our previous experience at El Zarape. I've added extra photos so you can get an idea of the layout of the restaurant. Enjoy your visit. The one thing that bothers me about all restaurants including El Zarape, is the use of these darn non reusable plastic straws (see photo). They are so bad for our environment. I wish that the restaurants would ask patrons if they needed a straw. I was not asked if I needed a straw, but it was just automatically provided to me. I actually have a reusable straw in my purse. I did not use this straw provided to me. Straws are very damaging to the ocean and creatures that live there. Please stop using plastic straws. Buy a reusable (folding) straw...
Read moreGrowing up in Yuba City I have had the opportunity to eat at El Zarape my whole life. The food is out of this world. I have had just about everything that they offer on the menu and have never had a bad dish. As of right now, my favorite would have to be their shredded beef and bean burrito with beans and rice. My wife raves over their texas enchilada, it’s so big that she makes two sometimes three meals out of it. Now for their salsa, I don’t even know where to start, it’s hands down the best salsa in the area. With the salsa tasting like it’s made fresh daily (I have never asked if it is thou…) and great tortilla chips I could make a meal out of them and some beans and rice. In my opinion they have the best Mexican cuisine in all of Yuba-Sutter. Their service is great, the hostess and the wait-staff are always friendly and outgoing. The wait for food sometimes runs a little long, but I don’t mind it gives the table time to enjoy the chips and salsa. They also have a great selection at the bar and one of the best selections of margaritas in town. Their décor is simple and functional. The tables are always clean when we are sat and the restrooms have always been well maintained when we have been there. One of my favorite things about El Zarape is that in my opinion they are cheap. My wife and I went there the other night for dinner, we both ordered our favorites and I had a crown and coke and the bill was only something like $26. So if you find yourself in the Yuba-Sutter area and are looking for some great Mexican food you can’t go wrong...
Read moreDecided to go here because I heard they had good food. Our waiter/the manager was not friendly at all. I ordered the chilli verde plate because it’s my favorite type of Mexican food. It had about 3 tablespoons of not tender pork meat & the rest was chili’s, seeds & sauce. I’ve never tasted such bad chille verde. I don’t know what kind of peppers they used but not the type you’re supposed to use in chille verde. I read some of the reviews about the chille verde & could not understand why people were giving it good reviews. I should of known it wasn’t good Mexican food because there were only old white people there. I’m whites as well but I know good Mexican food when I eat it. The salsa wasn’t even good. Taste like ketchup. My daughter ordered the carnitas super burrito. Flavorless dry & unsalted. I gave this place a chance after living here for 10 years & I will never go again. The prices were pretty high as well. What happened to getting a nice sized burrito for around &10? Anyway I usually don’t leave reviews unless I’m really impressed with a business or really disappointed & obviously I’m really...
