My husband and I recently went to Gozen for a date night this past Saturday. We have been here a few times in the past since they had opened. While the food was simply amazing and delicious, service was okay but slow and the atmosphere was so uncomfortable.
Service: When we had arrived, we had stood in their waiting area to be seated. It took almost a full 10-15 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us there. We were not greeted like we have been in the past visits or even told we will be right with you. They had seemed really short staffed by the looks of it. I had seen three servers present only from the from where we were standing at the time. When we were waiting, a guy in an apron finally came up to the front who looked liked a cook. He had just stood there at the register. I was thinking finally we were going to be seated but the guy didn’t say nothing to us. He was having a great conversation speaking to a younger guy sitting at the bar in a black shirt. At that point we had almost left. As we finally got seen by one of the ladies there, she sat us down at a table top and apologized for the long wait and gave us one menu and two sushi menus to look at. After we got our menus we just got our whole order set that way we can order at one time due to the long wait periods. When she had finally came back she kindly took our order and gave us some small plates, napkins and chop sticks. We had sat there seemed like forever at this point with out any beverages. As we were waiting for the food, something seemed just off in the atmosphere there. I was questioning myself, why we were waiting so long this time. As I observed there were only the three ladies running to get the tables taking care of. Going to the bar grabbing drinks to other tables in the back. You can see they were slammed with a workload. So after I had seen that I was not so flustered about the wait time. They were trying to take care of there customers. When our food finally came we still didn’t get any beverages. We did just ask for water and another server brought the water to us while she was going to another table. Over all derive seemed slow but they really need more servers to help out especially on weekends when people do want to go out.
Atmosphere: Wow. I’m so so disappointed in the environment that I was in. As we had issues with service times, what my husband I witnessed was just not okay. As we were eating our food. I looked by the bar area and there was a guy in the apron just standing there. He was just once again talking to the same guy at the bar from when we walked in. Then I had seen one of the waitresses cashing out a couple in the front. The couple was telling her how bad the service had been and that they loved eating there. She again apologized over and over while she was trying to calm the upset customer down. The guy in the apron didn’t help her at all. At this point I was thinking he was management. He let her be talked down to. Did not do a thing. After that I continued to eat my food, and that same waitress I had seen dealing with rude customers had walked quickly to the opposite side of the restaurant almost in tears holding herself together. I told my husband that those servers needed some help. When the waitress came back she told the guy “Kevin” how unprofessional he was and just went off on him. She was telling him that there “are only 3 of us and it’s busy Kevin!”. I saw her place her tips on the counter and she walked away. That guy literally got her tips and placed it carelessly in his pocket! I couldn’t believe what I was witnessing during my dinner. Then she left and then came back with her purse and told that Kevin guy she “was done and fuck this”. All in-front of customers. Kevin didn’t seem to care by his body language and just told her “get out of here” in a dude like asshole way. My dinner experience when from slow service to a whole novela show. After what we witnessed I wanted to leave. Me being in retail for over 15 yrs that was not acceptable behavior. It’s a big time management problem. Will not...
Read moreRead moreHad the chicken boliogi , dry , thigh cheap , in a weak marinade heavy salt .Wife had the fried rice and shrimp. Chicken boiled in water, shrimp no taste, rice very dry, No taste , better food at panda , I didn’t eat much, asked for manager but got nothing. They took my food away, it tasted like lunch leftovers, I even said, what did that table have next to me as they brought new food in , kept hinting on perhaps I could get something different. Nothing, I was charged full price. Yes I still left a tip because, the wasn’t the servers fault her hands were tied . Perhaps they could have recommended something else , but was told after you eat a bite no returns. Never heard of a resturant having a 3 month soft opening, So excited for a new place, we know Yuma needs them I’m a big Asian food fan, but this lack all the flavor. Being a new place you think someone, like a manger could have gone over our concerns . As I walked out the door, I talked to a very nice female , I kept saying I’m leaving and really like to talk to the manager , but she said there’s nothing that can be done. Bummer…. Bad reviews, can be avoided, I really tried to have a conversation, VERY FRIENDLY as i joked about leaving, and here i go, almost like staff was scared of their boss? You say Gourmet asian , but , the nothing about our experence was speical, anyone can take chicken theighs leave it in souce and cook it, but a real resturant can make it great, it is what it is. Let’s see if...
I was craving some ramen specifically tonkotsu ramen and posted on a local fb page asking for recommendations. Someone suggested this place and I checked them out online. We’re new here from SD so I’m not too familiar with restaurants out here. Anyways I was excited to see all the items to choose from and that there indeed was tonkotsu ramen on the menu (I’m 37 weeks pregnant and the craving is intense). I called made my order for the ramen & some baked green mussels. The lady who took my order was nice and took care of it quickly and gave me an estimated time. I sent my husband to pickup and the wait was longer than what we were told but he found out it’s fairly new and he enjoyed the atmosphere as he waited so we weren’t bothered. However when he came home I of course immediately ripped open the bag and was ready to eat but when I opened the ramen and saw the meat I was given I was overcome with irrational emotion due to my hormones I’m sure and was upset. It was the tiniest bit of meat I’ve ever seen in a ramen bowl and that really hurt my enjoyment of the food. The flavor of the broth and the mussels is great I have to admit it’s truly delicious but the lack of meat really has me struggling. Am I over reacting? Is this how it usually is or did I just happen to have some bad luck with...
