TL:DR: I’m giving this place 5 stars, bumping them up from 4.6
Burgh’ers Brewing has got a lot going on. Let’s start with the brews, because it’s right there in their name: I picked out four brews for a flight (4 brews), and they were all delicious. Though, they could have posted the price of a flight SOMEwhere (did I miss it?) On our bill, It was $11.50, a wee bit steep. Was it because I chose some higher ABV brews? No way of knowing. And how many ounces was each of the four pours? 4? 5? Again, no way of knowing. I’m guessing 4.5. Here’s the good part: All 4 choices were delicious, particularly the Oat Black Water Porter and the Saison Michelle. Yum, & double-yum! A special mention for the beer menu posted on the video screens at the bar (“JUST THE TAP.” LOL). Very helpful, and also linked to the Untappd App. We ate at the bar; not sure if the rest of the place had that advantage. OK, about the menu: it was diverse enough to bring the two of us carnivores back again. Those of you who are vegetarians or vegans? This is worth AT LEAST one visit. Sorry, I don’t remember what burger the missus got, only that she enjoyed it, as well as the side salad she got. Aces. As for me, I got a build-a-burger (4.75 ⭐️) with rosemary fries (not so much: get the salad instead) ( or better yet, that mac-n-cheese sounds awesome). Diversion: we stopped on a Monday, which meant that there was a Mini-burger special ($5 vs $8) special going on. So we picked one out... the Fox Chapel... And it was GREAT... But, as we later learned... We had mistakenly been served the full-sized burger instead of the mini-sized burger…
So… I cannot comment on the size of the regular burger versus the mini burger, only that the Fox Chapel burger is DELICIOUS.
But, later, we had pleaded our case, and our awesome bartender made it right ( WTG whoever you were 12-30-19 2PM). Our bartender was great.
We hope and expect to get back soon to sample the chicken sandwiches and soup du jours,
And… recommend that...
Read moreSO DISAPPOINTED! We wanted to love this place so badly and when the food finally came out, it was good BUT the service was SO SO POOR we won't ever return. After not seeing our waitress for a solid 10 minutes after someone else dropped off the appetizer we couldn’t eat, I had to go to the front and find our own silverware at the empty hostess stand they must have forgotten to give us, then the food took so long to come out, both of my children had already finished the non-refillable glass soda bottles. We had to ask for waters when we saw the waitress again and she mumbled something about checking on our order because it had obviously been so long. Not sure if she ever checked because she didn’t return. We flagged her down another ten minutes later and asked if she checked and she said “on what?” After telling us it was coming off the grill right then, it came about 5-10 minutes later. All in all, I’m estimating a 45 minute wait time. We noticed other tables asking about their food too. When my son’s mini hamburger came out as a cheeseburger and I made her aware, she said “I heard cheeseburger.” Ok, no you didn’t because I’ve ordered a hamburger for him for ten years as he doesn’t eat cheese. Regardless, just apologize for your mistake and correct your error. The chili my mom ordered was cold but she didn’t feel there was a need to ask for anything from the less than helpful staff so it was left mainly uneaten on the table. My favorite part though was when she brought the check and reminded us that they add 20% tip for all parties 6 and more (apparently it does state this in the menu per my husband. At least they try to warn you I guess). Lovely. Honestly, if the waitress would not have been so rude, unhelpful and unfriendly, I understand sometimes kitchen get backed up, but I don’t foresee this location being successful especially when we were told “we are aware” as a response to my fathers complaints...
Read more7:00pm and many other restaurant establishments were filled to capacity and had 30 minute wait times. This place had only a few people and we were hungry so we thought maybe we’d give them another try ( it’s been quite some time since we had last been there… because it was mediocre then). We thought only a few people in the restaurant… surely they could pull off a burger and fries? Nope! Upon walking up to the restaurant there was trash and overgrown weeds on their sidewalks. Doors were smudged and dirty. The hostess was dressed as though she just got out of bed, but she did manage to stand and disengage from her phone long enough to not say hello. She did ask how many were eating prior seating us by dirty tables that had not been taken care of. The floors were dirty (our shoes stuck to them) and the table was sticky ( our arms stuck to them). It was about ten minutes before the manager/bartender/cook took our drink order. We ordered burgers and “fresh cut” fries …. because that is what they are “known” for. They must stop making fresh cut at a certain time of day because all of our fries were “left overs” for sure! Small pieces ranging from 1 -2 inches, dry, cold… literally must have been sitting in the bottom of a bowl in the kitchen all day! Waiter asked if we’d like mojo sauce off to the side of the burger… never received it. Dried horseradish sticks slapped on a horrible smash burger? Pretty hard to mess that up. Oh… my bottled Coke a Cola was great! 😃 Was not once asked “how’s everything “… waiter/manager didn’t because he knew that he just fed us the worst meal ever. $47.00 for two burgers and three fries? Common… the public should not be charged to support failure. Oh and the hostess was busy enough on her phone that she was not able to say “ good night or thanks for stopping by!” Would strongly encourage you not to give this place a first try let alone...
