Solid three star experience. I had a nice chat with the gentleman co-owner one day while walking on the street and was asked to come try the restaurant.
Ok. My job is literally to try restaurants, so sure, I came back the following day.
Ambience: If anything this is what I would expect from a restaurant if I was transported back to the 1970s. Lots on the menu, no particular specialty. Something for everyone.
Food: Ordered a steak and some garlic toast and everything was as expected. Average. Unrefined.
Interesting point, the co-owner partner (the wife, if I dare assume), was quite proud of the beef that they use. Apparently they import their own beef which would indicate a discerning taste for beef, then.
One odd tidbit, however, raised an eyebrow. The lady co-owner made a claim that their cattle are finished with strawberries.
The finishing period is when beef are fed an energy-dense diet so that they will grow rapidly and add muscle/meat to their frame and optimise fat cover in preparation for slaughter. Corn. Oats. Barley. And lots of it. 10-15 lbs a day.
The claim of the owners they their cattle is finished with strawberries just doesn’t seem to bear any validity. Maybe I’m wrong. I did also put this out to my Australian beef producer network (Blackmore, Stockyard, etc.) and nothing came back.
Ok let’s table that. Steak was average.
Finally pricing: Fair. It’s neither cheap nor expensive. The diner can rest assured to get decent value by dining here.
So, would I come back?
The answer is no. There’s nothing sufficiently compelling here to pull me back and a whole world of restaurants...
Read moreHeard good things but had an awful experience. The woman working that spoke English well had the man that didn't speak any English at all take the order. So after he took the order she came back to confirm it, showing clearly she didn't understand the order. We ordered 2 soda waters(one with lime). My friend ordered.. don't remember, but I ordered a beef stroganoff.
With the drinks. They made my friend some cocktail with lime and mint and charged him double for his drink than mine.
With food. My friend was content with his food. With my food, I got steak and spaghetti. Instead of admitting kitchen made a mistake, the woman INSISTED this is how they make their beef stroganoff because Koreans complain about the creamyness. I got put in this awkward situation of accepting a dish I Really didn't want or making them waste food and risk getting spit in my food. So I accepted the dish. Staff said it would be free and I should leave a nice tip. 😆
So, I didn't enjoy my food. My friend barely content. Bill comes, my friend was overcharged for some fancy virgin cocktail instead of the soda he ordered. My friend paid and when they brought the change, they short changed him about 30k.
The experience was filled with awkward negotiations and talking to us like we are dumb. The picture I'm attaching is what they insisted was their version of beef stroganoff(in the end they finally pretended to understand it was different, the woman was clearly some kind of owner or manager, but she played dumb.)
Your experience might be better. But...
