Pros:1. The hotel is very central and close to the beach/Linh Ung Pagoda/Marble Mountains. It’s great for things to do, places to eat and a trip to the beach. Also, it’s not too far from the airport.2. The views from the room and the rooftop pool are phenomenal. You can see both the ocean skyline with the Lady Maiden as well as the famous dragon bridge and Ferris wheel at the back. I would recommend booking a corner room, as they have two windows for optimal viewing. 3. The breakfast buffet is good. Nothing too fancy but they change the menu daily. There is always rice, noodles, rice porridge, cold meats, omelettes, bread for toast, cereal and baked goods. 4. Generally the room is well stocked. There is a razor, two two brush sets, a comb, a shower cap, two bars of soap, etc. Furthermore, there is complimentary tea, coffee and water available in the room. Also there is a safe available too! 5. The hotel and the room were incredibly clean! Cons:1. Though the website makes the hotel seem more suitable for couples/solo travellers, it does cater to families. However, considering the styles of rooms, you wouldn’t expect lots of tamiles with lots of children. When I read the promotional material that mentioned a infinity pool with cocktails on the rooftop with a romantic double suite, I presumed there wouldn’t be as many children as there were. Please be wary of this if you are trying to travel without constant screaming children surrounding you. 2. Though there are so many children, and the hotel has a play area for them on the second floor, please note this hotel is anything but child friendly. The infinity pool, for lack of a better term, is extremely dangerous for children. There are two pools on the roof: Pool A is the infinity pool you see in all of the promotional photos for the hotel, and then there is a pool with an ocean view by the restaurant. Pool A is incredibly deep. Even in the shallow end, it is up to my neck (I’m 5’8 for reference) - however by the edge, I can’t touch the bottom. Pool B located by the restaurant is very shallow but good for kids. However, there really needs to be a decision made for this kind of hotel. It markets itself for couples, solo travelers and young to middle aged groups, looking to lay by the sea view infinity pool with cheap cocktails. However, there are so many kids. Furthermore, many of them are being left unattended by their parents at a ROOFTOP infinity pool with EXTREMELY low glass walls (if you stand by the edge, it only reaches your knees when standing. Its deep and incredibly dangerous. In truth, they need to either:I) Put up a sign designating pool B as the kids pool, and pool A as the adults only poolOrII) Hire a full time lifeguard who is available near the pool/require parents to stay with their kids at all times. 3. There is no room service or pool side restaurant- it shows in the promotional material that both are available, however there is no real room service (there are chips and cookies you can pay for in the room), and the pool side restaurant (which is also the bar) never serves food. I tried at nighttime, morning, and in the afternoon. They just don’t serve food there, though they claim to. Don’t expect this. However, the strawberry mojito is amazing! 5. Good luck finding a do-not-disturb sign. It seems some rooms has them while others did not. I did not, and I had a cleaning lady come in while I was showering. Furthermore, as I was leaving, I noticed they did the same to another room on my floor. They will knock though! (I did see a room on an upper floor with a sign on their door, so maybe just make sure to request one on check in!) Overall would recommend, but don’t expect food outside of the comp breakfast and expect many children. If you bring your own, make sure to watch them like a hawk if...
Read moreI'll try to be as objective as possible after several negative experiences. First, the positives. The receptionists and cleaning staff are extremely helpful and polite. The hotel's location couldn't be better because you're literally about a 10-minute walk to the beach and surrounded by local restaurants and big-name franchises like KFC and Pizza Hut. The wifi was relatively fast and stable. The ac was quite cold, so I had to set it to 25C instead of the usual 19 or 20C in other hotels. The room and bathroom were clean. Excellent price. Now, the negatives. The moment I stepped out of the elevator, I was hit with a strong cigarette stench, and the cleaning crew tried to mask it with a heavy chemical spray. The next morning, I could smell cigarette stench again in my room and the elevator area. Breakfast was ok, with very, very limited options for vegetarians (unless you're ok with rice, the occasional pasta, and salad). You can get fresh pho but it's sad-looking. I asked for a vegetarian pho and the server took the ladle from the beef broth to scoop out the vege broth! At around 6 to 7 am, there were screaming kids and adults talking really loudly outside their rooms. Some would even leave their doors ajar. Sound insulation is really terrible. Sometimes they would talk loudly outside the rooms at around midnight. The doors slammed and the noise traveled into all the rooms on the floor. One afternoon, one guy knocked on my door and tried to open it. I went out to check and he apologized. The next evening, I heard someone outside my window. I had a room with an outside hallway. I dragged the curtain to see who it was and it was the same guy who tried to enter my room. He quickly ran away. Then there was a woman who yelled at the kids in the exterior hallway at around midnight. The hotel staff needs to remind people about the silent hours outside the rooms. It got so annoying that my neighbor and I shooed her. Staff loved to keep their main door open, so sometimes there's a lingering cigarette stench in the lobby. ||There are things that the hotel staff could do better. However, this hotel seems to attract loud, inconsiderate, and maybe...
Read moreSpent 2 nights here as 2 couples after booking through booking.com. On booking.com we had booked 2 “superior room with window”. The photos associated with the room on booking.com did not match the rooms. In one room the window was in the bathroom (with no window in the room itself) and the other just didn't have a window. The room felt like a prison with zero natural light.
We went down to reception to explain there must have been some sort of mistake as we had booked 2 rooms with windows and showed the photos of what we had expected to get from the booking. The staff on reception told us that these photos were the deluxe room and not the superior. (These photos were specifically attached to the superior rooms on booking.com). The staff were immediately able to tell us that one of the rooms did not have a window and the other window was in the bathroom. They argued that the window in the bathroom was sufficient to fit what had been promised with the booking. We disagreed but they refused to entertain otherwise. For the room with no window they said they could not change it as the hotel was full and changed us to a bathroom window room for the second night only. (Still not what we had booked). They offered no discount for us spending a night in a room of worse standard than we booked and then moved us to another room which was also arguably worse quality than we booked also. They gave us a “drinks voucher” for the troubles which could only be used on the cheapest drinks on the menu. (Ie 30k Dong) Nowhere near the cost of what we had paid extra.
In the morning - housekeeping knocked on our door at 8:30am. There is very little sound proofing in the doors. Both mornings we were woken by loud groups in the corridors having loud conversations which was essentially continuous from 8am. When checking out they tried to charge us for things in the mini fridge we did not use. Breakfast is poor. The “gym” is a few bits of equipment that are in tatters and look too dangerous to use.
Location is good and so is rooftop pool.
Overall this place wasn’t expensive but you can definitely find places which are better in the area for a...
