The pho here was very good, but the restaurant’s hygiene standards need serious improvement.
When we sat down, the table was sticky and had not been cleaned. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, but looking around, I noticed that EVERY table was in the same condition. The spoons were stored in a Tupperware container that had not been washed, and it took me a long time to find one that was clean. The chopsticks were made of unpolished wood, and some had black specks on them, which was concerning — but even worst.. some had hardened food stuck to it.
The condiment jars were also quite dirty, to the point where we had to use a napkin to pick up the hot sauce bottle. Even the napkin holder itself was not clean. It seemed like nothing on the tables had been properly wiped down in a long time.
As for the food, my MIL’s plate was just okay. The meat was dry, and the rice was slightly undercooked. It wasn’t bad, but the overall experience was affected by the lack of cleanliness.
This restaurant has good food, and decent service. We did have to ask for drinks because no one asked if we wanted any. I really hope they improve their hygiene practices. A clean dining space makes a big difference, and it would make the experience much better...
Read moreWe visited this place based on a number of 5-star reviews and I must say that all of them are true and correctly describe the experience.
This is a nice and cozy family-owned place. Food options are limited and it’s great - the food is delicious and is being served quickly.
Portions are huge. We ordered pho of standard size and I wasn’t able to finish it, probably will go medium next time. The owner served us with complimentary watermelon pieces, not small either. We also ordered fresh coconut and it was incredible. Pho goes with variety of meat options, we chose beef (well done) and it was great. The owner added some really hot sauce in our portions which increased the flavor of soup, but I’d probably ask not to do it next time - it was just sooo hot for me.
The place is clean and has good WiFi. They have plenty of air ventilators there and the temperature inside is really nice, much cozier than just with air conditioning, in my opinion.
Cash payment, but to be fair we haven’t asked about card payments, so can’t say for sure if it’s available...
Read moreJust visiting Da Nang and popped in. Family owned, and they’re all very friendly when you engage them, and even helped me with my terrible Vietnamese. The owner, Rich, is inviting without being pushy, and is a font of information on Vietnamese culture and people. He always seems to have time for you despite being busy. The lady who seems to be in charge of the Pho is a machine and is very helpful and friendly, but everyone is welcoming. Their wood work on their ceiling is beautiful without being over the top and the atmosphere is inviting and busy. I’d only had Southern Pho up until now and apparently their pho is northern style. It’s different, not as sweet, a little lighter, but simply delicious. This place feels like home. You can taste they care about their product. Would definitely recommend. Derek and Heather...
