Everything we had here was delightful. From matchas to warm cocoas, from savory to sweet dishes. Juices are great, I got the yoga and shine which was very nice, refreshing and tad of spice, next time the celery juice, pure and real stuff. The avocado coffee was amazing! First time getting it, so unique and rich. Wonderful texture and a lot of avocado flavor. The cocoa was wonderful, rich and perfect sweetness with the cashew mylk. The matcha was on point. For food, I got the rocket tempeh salad my first time, it was tasty, abundant in tempeh but only thing id say is that it seemed as if it had been cut a while ago, not completely fresh, you could tell by the leaves being too soft and the salad having a bit too much onion flavor. I was told the toasts were great, not very big if you’re looking for something less filling. Next time around I got a breakfast burrito which was delicious. The spicy sauce was on point, the GF wrap was sweet and savory, nice twist to the dish. Only thing Id add would be a bit more tempeh. The smoothie bowl was really good, abundant, nice presentation, and I appreciate how they activated the chia with coconut cream or milk. For desserts we got tiramisu and snickers. Tiramisu was great, creamy and flavorful, but not not much coffee flavor, still recommend. The snickers was perfect in my opinion, nice textures and not too sweet, abundant and healthy. Their desserts are beautiful, healthy, filling and tasty. Service is quick. Definitely recommend this spot for healthy and wide...
Read moreGoodbye, Roots. What once was a staple of my diet has now been replaced by other vegan restaurants with lower prices and better ingredients. Loyal customers are leaving in droves, evident from the recent reviews.
Do not let this photo of the Start Up smoothie bowl [discontinued] and sweet potato fries mislead you. The photo was taken during the good ol’ days in 2024. Look at that serving size. It was just enough to fill me up. Every night I used to order two smoothie bowls—one for a late snack and the second my breakfast.
During Tet, I noticed the price of the Cacao Dream bowl raised from 65k to 89k. That’s a 36.92% increase. I believed the increase was because of Tet, but no. The holiday passed and prices are the same.
Comments by the restaurant state that they haven’t raised prices in six years. But their competitors’ smoothie bowls, which taste great and have quality ingredients, remain priced lower.
Sadly, great taste and quality ingredients is no longer true at Roots. Not to mention, the portion sizes are smaller. Maybe they are targeting the influencer crowd(?). Making food more photogenic does not make me want to pay more.
Google Maps shows that Roots is now open until 2:30pm. Why so early? Prior to all of these changes, the restaurant was known to be a late night vegan spot open past 10pm.
If they keep these changes, I foresee a short-lived future, which is sad for the restaurant’s staff and previously loyal patrons. It was nice...
Read moreWithout a doubt, Roots is my favorite vegan cafe in Da Nang! The combination of high quality/diverse food options, a spacious/comfortable seating area, and friendly staff makes it an ideal spot for dining, hanging out, or working on a laptop.
As someone with eczema, I’m very cautious about what I consume, and I appreciate how Roots offers a variety of probiotic and protein rich options. Their tempeh menu is fantastic, and my absolute favorite is the Tempeh and Rocket Salad. It's a visually appealing with crunchy tempeh on top of fresh greens and it's got 33g of protein in one plate!
I also love their variety of superfood-infused drinks. I’ve tried the Spirulina Green Latte, Reishi Mushroom Latte, and Moringa Shot for the first time at Roots. Before visiting, I knew very little about them but it's got me curious and looked up their nutrient benefits. Not only are they delicious, but they also leave me feeling extra healthy.
Recently, I tried the Katsu Tartare Burger, and I must say this is a game changer! I’m not usually a big fan of burgers, but the vegan tartare sauce and shiso leaf bring the perfect balance. The shiso adds a subtle salty plum flavor that complements the crispy katsu.
Roots is a popular cafe so it can get busy during the day, but when it's not too hot/humid you can still finds a spot to relax and chill in the second floor outdoor seating area.
Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for tasty and nutritious vegan...
