MIND. BLOWN. I’m honestly not sure why this bar isn’t one of the first things people talk about when they talk about Da Lat. The exterior is unassuming with a sign in Vietnamese that reads: “the way to the moon.” And that… is your mission. To find the moon at the end of the labyrinth of wonders that is 100 Roof Bar.
This place is massive, winding, and disorientating in the best way possible. The sculptural elements in the maze are by turns whimsical, creepy, abstract, wacky, trippy and magical. We visited at around 6:30pm on a rainy night and were the only ones there. We had the whole maze/bar/wonderland to ourselves! I would hate to be there alone though… this bar is either the world’s best hide-and-seek spot or an A24 horror film set.
I must note that the blaring top 40/club music wouldn’t be my first choice. And the M.C. Escher-esque steps themselves can be wet in the rain (be careful!). Service, though, is very friendly. Drinks are cheap and all you need to gain entry.
So much respect to the late architect of this masterpiece:...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting an extraordinary cafe bar in Dalat, and it left me absolutely enchanted. This place seamlessly combines the whimsy of "Alice in Wonderland" with the surrealism of Salvador Dali and the architectural obscurity of Antoni Gaudi.
Walking through its doors feels like stepping into a fantastical realm, where every corner holds a delightful surprise. The interior design is an artistic masterpiece in itself, with curvaceous, dream-like structures and colorful mosaics that transport you into a different dimension.
While the drinks are slightly higher priced, it's well worth it for the immersive experience this place offers. The entry fee acts as a ticket to a world of wonder and creativity. Whether you're a lover of art, a fan of Dali, or simply seeking a unique and magical night out, this cafe bar in Dalat is an absolute must-see. It's an adventure you won't...
Read moreThis city must have been bursting with creativity. I'm not a bar person and this 100 Roof Bar is no ordinary bar. First, you have to order and pay for a drink. It doesn't even have to be alcoholic. And once you get your drink you're free to wonder through the maze that is the bar. You're instructed to go down the stairs to the bottom floor and your goal is to find your way up to the top to the Garden. Stairs go every which way and then converge. There are tables and chairs throughout the maze to hang out at. Some of the stairs are very narrow, some of passages dark, there are even some passages you'd have to crawl through. All beautifully designed. I think it's a brilliant business idea and even more so that you don't have be an adult to participate. I saw a family with younger kids going in there while I was leaving. I imagine it's a pretty cool place to...
