Spending the afternoon having tea with Mr. Johnson was a unique and special treat. The shop itself is a bit of a hidden gem—he even told us that he doesn’t put up a lot of signage, because he sees the act of sharing tea as something more intimate and personal. Fitting with this theme, this is not a tea shop in the traditional sense. You aren’t seated at a table and given a menu from which you order. You will arrange yourself at his table, which is beautifully arranged with his equipment and an ensemble of greenery, and share in the experience with your generous and knowledgeable host. Leaning into Mr. Johnson’s expertise, we only asked for his recommendations when he invited us to share what teas we usually enjoy drinking. He guided us through 5 different teas, even a coconut-water based tea when he happened to see a coconut vendor passing by. How special. As we savored each cup, he shared his insights on tea. Even using Google translate, his message was clear: the act of drinking tea boils down to the energy you give to and receive from your company, your tea master, and the tea itself. His welcoming nature paired with his ability to curate an eclectic tea tasting made for a lasting experience. Would certainly recommend! He has no formal schedule by the way. Make sure to text him on WhatsApp or call to coordinate your visit. It will...
Read moreIf you are someone who loves slowing down, connecting with people, enjoying tea, and having philosophical life discussions, this is the place for you! When we first arrived, the shop looked closed, but when I WhatsApp messaged the owner, he responded immediately and his wife opened the doors for us. We came for the tea experience, but ended up staying for 4hrs because we so highly enjoyed the company and the conversation. The tea was wonderful and we discovered new flavors and new ways of making and fermenting tea. The set up was beautiful and you can tell that this is a passion project for this family. Their main business is to show people how to enjoy tea, be mindful, and focus on the present moment. I wish I could have spent more time there, and will definitely visit again the next time I...
Read moreA unique experience - one that I will remember forever. I enjoyed myself so much, I came back the next day! The hosts are very generous and kind - they offer a wide variety of teas and snacks. Initially, we communicated with Google translate, but they asked their son to join, since he spoke English. I did contact them via What'sApp before I planned to go since I did read the one review of their shop being closed (it is a family run business). 2 of the walls are beautifully decorated with tea pots and cups. I had a wonderful time with the family and their friend and the hours flew by. I had a conversation that altered my mind and perspective. If you enjoy teas and a conversation, don't...
