Oregano Deli has been my favourite restaurant to order take-out from in Hanoi for nearly three years. Their make-your-own sandwich deal is just sensational - you pick from an amazing selection of fillings, including a wide range of cold cut meats that are very hard to find in Vietnam, as well as an array of all of the best cheeses you can imagine. The almost infinite number of combinations of sandwich fillings is what keeps me coming back for more. I must have ordered over 100 sandwiches from them in my time here, with different meat/cheese/vegetable combinations and have yet to be disappointed. On top of the great sandwiches they offer, they serve a variety of western meals. Their lunchtime combo (a 3 course meal for 130k) is not to be missed. Their high-quality meat dishes and Italian meals provide an affordable taste of home. Even their fries are great, and cheap.
Some of their other menu items that I have been lucky enough to try and enjoy are the fried battered sausage, their hot dogs, their pizza baguette with any selection of toppings, a number of pasta dishes, the carbonara, roast chicken, mash potato, and I haven't once been disappointed.
The only negative thing I could say about the restaurant is that I wish they would stay open even later, so that I could order food from them when I finish work late!
Thank you...
Read moreOregano Deli is a useful constant to judge the progress of the Hanoi restaurant scene on. As hard as it is to imagine now, many once raved about this place as a low cost lunch option. Some even ate dinner here, I heard. Now? It looks like an awful photocopy of a worn photo of an actual restaurant. And yet, absolutely nothing has changed on their end. Nothing.
They do a bunch of pasta and meat dishes covered in thick, tasteless sauces. They are poor. They also do sandwiches that are all spongy, chewy bread. The fillings are of decent quality, but you'll need a well funded expedition to actually locate them.
In many ways, this place is being run like a street food kitchen. They set a concept with unchanging recipes from the start. They got a following, and they then assume it is basically on autopilot. No new dishes. No money spent on the space itself. Just churn it out. Only problem is that this isn't street food and never was particularly good. It just happened to be better value than most other places in 2006. There are dozens of better options now. I can't believe it...
Read moreI wasted time looking for a kind of chorizo for cooking casserole. I found it and waited for it to be delivered, but the product is a different kind than the one advertised.
I had to then waste time looking for the contact of this restaurant. First, they promised they would refund me, then they said they will come to take the product back. Overall, a waste of my time due to their incorrect picture and lack of understanding that they can't advertise a kind of chorizo and deliver a...
